SUMMARY

The purpose of this report is to look into the choices made by first year students while deciding
on their course and to hence analyze that whether that choice was of their own or if it was
heavily influenced by external factors such as peer pressure, financial difficulties, parent's
intervention and so on. A survey is to be carried out, whose results will be analyzed to come to a
conclusion about the topic.

Moreover, it is hoped that this survey will lead us to detailed information about the mind of a
student while choosing his/her course. Based on the results, we hope to propose appropriate
policies and measures that MMU administration can come up with to tackle the problem (if any)
of students being unable to cope with the pressure of the chosen subject or disliking it in the long
run, which can result in them dropping out of college in the worst case scenario.

Our methodology consist of questionnaires and short interviews .The interviews will be held
with first year students of all faculties to determine how the students chose their field of study in
our university .

The data from our questionnaires will be collected and analyzed. The data will also be tabulated
and converted into charts and diagrams to show more details.

The following recommendations were made:

 In order to introduce MMU (Multimedia University) courses to outsiders, MMU

can organize an open house event every year before main intake.
 MMU can cooperate with secondary schools to organize an exhibition in order to
introduce courses provided in MMU.
 MMU can cooperate with secondary schools and organize a workshop during
school holidays for secondary schools’ students to experience.
 Enrol requirements and details of course structure can be provide in MMU’s
website.
 MMU can provide MQA qualification for every course provided.

i
In conclusion, if the recommendations are accept and implement, we believe that MMU can
definitely provide excellent guidance for teenagers to pursue their dreams.
