Madayaw!

In behalf of San Pedro College and our organizing committee, we would like to extend
our warm invitation to students, researchers, academicians, professionals, practitioners, leaders
and innovators from multidisciplinary interests who share a common endeavor in research to
attend the 1st Madayaw International Multidisciplinary Research Conference, scheduled 1
December 2018 at San Pedro College Main Campus, Davao City with the theme “Confluence of
Research and Innovation in the Forefront of Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.”

Madayaw also happens to be the name of our Multidisciplinary Refereed Journal which
is a Dabawnon word that means anything good, beautiful, valuable, and pleasant - a familiar
feeling when one accomplishes a research work. The conference aims to enable researchers to
discuss, share, and expand boundaries of knowledge and research interest by providing among
various disciplines an avenue to share ideas, learn the current trends, and forge partnerships
and collaborative agreements between and among themselves.

There will be plenary sessions related to the theme, as well as parallel sessions in
current researches on social science, information technology and engineering, business and
management, health sciences, natural sciences, arts, language and literature, and education.

The aims of the conference are:

 to enable researchers to discuss, share, and expand boundaries of knowledge and research
interest by providing researchers among various disciplines an avenue to share ideas, learn
the current trends, and forge partnerships and collaborative agreements between and
among themselves.
 to serve as a venue for expanding research interest in intellectual property rights and recent
technological approaches.

Highly regarded resource persons are invited to share their expertise and knowledge on

At the end of each presentation, the participants should be able to:

a. Acquaint themselves of the current trends in research in the field of social

science, Information Technology and Engineering, Business and Management,
Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Education, and Arts, Language, Literature.

b. Identify funding agencies for research and innovation.

c. Describe opportunities for research collaboration.

d. Explain importance of institutional and professional research collaboration

2. Water Resource and Wastewater Management toward attaining Sustainable

Development
a. Describe the current status of water resources (global, national, local level)

b. Compare wastewater and sewage as to its constituents and origin or sources

c. Explain the wastewater quality indicators

d. Effects of wastewater on biology (human, plants, animals, microorganisms)

e. Discuss the different ways of managing wastewater treatment

f. Elaborate ways of sustaining water resources for the future generation

attaining sustainable clean water resource

a. Review the research process highlighting utilization of data through policy-
making

b. Describe the skills in using evidence to identify and describe a problem, potential
solutions wait implementation as a consideration
c. Consolidate skills in preparing an evidence brief for program or policy decision-
making and organizing a policy dialogue

e. Explain the process of lobbying policies to law-makers and other relevant

especially in studying human contact and behavior.

as robotics, open and autonomous digital systems, smart grids, and many others.

7. Health Sciences
a. Identify current trends in health science research in the fields of medical
laboratory science/medical technology, nursing, physical therapy, biology,
respiratory therapy, and pharmacy.

b. Describe studies how health science research helped in developing solutions to

identified health problems.

c. Explain how research will impact public health issues and problems such as
cancer, diabetes, bacterial antibiotic resistance, risk-taking behaviours, burden of
disease and access to health services.

d. Appreciate the rigors of health science research.

8. Natural Sciences
a. Identify current trends in natural science research such as climate change, risk-
management, environmental protection, and plant and animal diseases as it
affects human life.

b. Describe studies how natural science research helped in developing solutions to

identified environmental problems.

pedagogies especially in the fields of linguistics, psychology, literary criticism,
and other allied disciplines.

b. Provide an avenue for critical discussions and studies on linguistic and literary

if not instruction in educational institutions.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

The conference will receive research abstracts of the study until November 16, 2018
(Friday) from interested paper presenters. After a systematic double-blind peer review process
by our scientific review committee, letter of confirmation and acceptance will be sent
immediately.

Presenters are requested to bring their 15 minute powerpoint presentation at the day of
the conference.

Abstract should follow the format below:

 150-250 word abstract of the study at spcmadayaw@gmail.com

 Papers should be in Word Format

 Title (centered)

 Font (Arial, 12, single-spaced)

 Use A4 size bond paper

 The information of the author should be centered, double-spaced from the title and
should consist of three lines (name of presenters, email and institutional affiliation)

 The body of the abstract should be in one paragraph, single-spaced, not to exceed with
250 words and with 3 to 5 keywords

 Texts should be set left but just in block paragraphs. All words should be spelled out, no
abbreviations and no footnotes.

PAPER SELECTION PROCESS:

All submitted abstracts will be subjected to a systematic double-blind peer review

process by the San Pedro College scientific review committee prior to the acceptance. Authors
of accepted papers will be notified via email immediately after the peer review.

 While we accept payment during on-site registration, we humbly request participants to
register online via https://goo.gl/forms/OV0blgn5nnMKbK633 on or before November 16, 2018
(Friday) for the organizers to approximate the number of participants for logistic preparations.
The organizers will send an email of confirmation and registration fee instruction a day after the
online Registration of the participants. The conference registration fee is non-refundable but
transferable.

For paper presenters, in case your paper is multi-authored and more than one author will
attend the conference, each attending author needs to register and pay the registration fee for
the conference separately.

Kindly email the scanned copy of the deposit slip or money transfer/pera padala receipt
with the participant’s name, school/company/institution’s name (research paper title for
presenters) to spcmadayaw@gmail.com. Bring the original copy of the deposit slip or money
padala receipt on the day of the conference to claim the Conference Official Receipt.

PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITIES:

If authors of accepted papers will consider, presented papers will be subjected to

another double blind reviews for publication proceeding which will be published in the “Madayaw
Research Journal”, a multidisciplinary research journal of San Pedro College.
