Overall aim and context of the lesson: (Rounding part 2)

- Students will be able to round whole numbers to the nearest ten and hundred using a
number line as a tool.

- Students will be able to round whole numbers to the nearest thousand and ten
thousand by using the rounding cluster strategy.

Select (S):
Lesson: Rounding numbers.
Stander: not included.

Describe (D):
The lesson is for students to improve their knowledge about rounding numbers because in their
book there are more than four lessons connected to rounding topic. The lesson take place when I
scaffold the lesson for students and we move step by step because some students have difficulty
with rounding. In this lesson I was trying to achieve how students can round numbers without
facing difficulty. In the beginning of the lesson, students were given a small quiz about the
previous lesson. Second, I asked students a questions about the topic and we started to discuss
that question. Third, students practice some questions in the bared. Then, learners open their
books and start solving questions. After that, I give learners small white boards and I say the
number and students round it. Finally, the class played an online game about rounding numbers.
Analyze (A):
In this lesson all learner’s response the way that I’m expected from them because they have
multiple activities which allow them to apply what they learned in different ways. In the
beginning of the lesson I active student’s prior knowledge by doing a small quiz about the
previous class and that helped me to see which students need more help with that topic. As a
result, I focus on them during my teaching to help them achieve their skills. Students were
engaged when I asked the question about the steps of rounding numbers and they performed very
well during the activities.
Appraise (A):
Students have good experience because they practice the topic in many different ways by using small
white boards, online game and practicing in their own book. According to the assessment part I understand
that students achieve the learning outcomes because they were able to follow the steps of rounding
numbers.

Transform (T):
For further implementation, I think instead of me saying the numbers and students write in the white board
it will be better if they do it in pairs on will say the number and one will white and each one must give
each learner feedback. For my next lesson, I would like to make more challenging actives to help students
be enthusiastic to achieve their skills.
