Overall aim and context of the lesson:

• Identify the 8 phases of the moon.

• Explain how the movements of the Earth and moon create different moon phases
observed by humans on Earth

Select (S):
Lesson: Moon phases.
Stander: Describe the movement of the moon relative to the earth.

Describe (D):
The lesson is for students to improve their understanding about earth and space. The lesson take
place because students were able to tell the different moon phases and they know how each
phases does look like. I’m trying to achieve learner knowledge about how moon phases appears
to us. Learners first sow a video about the moon phases and they take notes about it to complete
the two columns in the KLW chart. Second, the teacher gives each students a reading and then
students should discuss it in their groups and try to answer the questions in A3 paper. Third,
students did worksheet about moon phases that match their level of understanding. Finally,
learners complete the last columns in the KLW chart.
Analyze (A):
Students response the way that I’m expected they finish the activities early because the lesson
was based on PowerPoint that have pictures and flash cards to let them visualize the main. I
active student’s prior knowledge by showing them a video because some students don’t know the
what the word phases means. I engaged students by doing challenges between the groups and
when the finish early I engage them by using a starch board and the wooden stick and let students
draw each moon phase and write the exact name of each phases.

Appraise (A):
Students have great experience because they were able to tell why do have moon phases by their
own words and they were able to identify the names of the moon when they sow their own shape.
According to my perspective the lesson really well prepared and it give all abilities chance to
participate and from that it meets my teaching goals.
Transform (T):
For further implementation, I think it will be better if I changed the elaboration activity instead of using
worksheets, I can give each group instructions that they should great a poster about the moon phases by
using the materials which are available in the class. For my next lesson, I will try to make time
management for the lesson which will end in the same time.
