CLASS EXPECTATIONS AND RULES

Come to class prepared and ready to work. Any assigned homework should be completed before you
enter the classroom. Here is a basic list of our class rules:**
 Respect one another.
 All school rules and policies apply in this classroom.
 Bring all required materials to class everyday.
 Be seated and ready to work when the bell rings.
 Food and drink are prohibited in the classroom. Bottles of water are allowed.

**These rules are subject to change.

SUPPLIES
Students are responsible for bringing all required materials to class. Coming to class without these
materials means that you are not prepare to participate or do that day’s work and is therefore
unacceptable. The basic supplies you must bring to class are:

Three ring binder with dividers that is specifically for English

Loose leaf paper (college-ruled)
Pens (black or blue ink ONLY)
Highlighters (3 different colors)
#2 pencil and eraser
Spiral notebook (Journal)
Two-pocket folder for handouts
Red pen

Please be aware that as projects are assigned, additional supplies may be necessary.

Each student has been assigned a textbook. Since we have a class set, students are expected to keep
their textbooks at home for homework UNLESS the teacher asks the students to bring the text to
class for a book check.

ASSIGNMENTS
 Turn in all assignments at the beginning of class the day an assignment is due.
 After the teacher has collected the assignment, all other work will be marked a full day late.
 Assignments must be turned in with all required components. Refer to your assignment
sheets for further details.
 If there are multiple pages to an assignment, please staple it neatly before class.
 For final drafts, type it, use 1” margins, and always double-space!
 Use your school planner to record ALL assignments and due dates. “I did not know the
assignment was due!” is NOT a valid excuse.
 Always use MLA format.
GRADING
This year you will be graded on a variety of assignments, including essays, tests, quizzes, drills,
journals, discussions, independent reading, projects, and participation. Please keep track of your
grade. If you have a question about your grade, make an appointment to speak with me after class,
during lunch, or after school.

CLASS!!
 I will keep track of your scores in my gradebook on my computer.
 Grades will be posted periodically in the classroom.
