PRESS RELEASE

New York, NY, 8th Dev 2018: The World Sikh Parliament in their 4th session met
in New York from 8th - 10th of December to create regional and executive level
membership in their 10 councils that will address the issues impacting the global Sikh
community. The issues addressed ranged from Sikh- civil and human rights,
humanitarian aid, religious, educational and political issues across the globe.

The following were the points that were unanimously acknowledged by the Sikh
community in the United States during the 4th session of the World Sikh Parliament in
New York

1) The Sorld Sikh Parliament acknowledges the response of the Pakistani government
and their people in welcoming the Kartarpur corridor.

2) The World Sikh Parliament calls for the release of the Jathedar of Sri Akal
Takhat Sahib Bhai Jagtar Singh Hazara and all Sikh political prisoners and prisoners of
war in India. Under the Geneva Convention and other UN preambles their rights should
be restored by working with various legal bodies that are working for their release.

3) The World Sikh Parliament while following the UN charter endorses the right of the
global Sikh community to self-determination for their homeland where they can freely
practice their faith without any fear of hate crimes and oppression and where their civil
liberties and those of the Minorities will be protected

4) The World Sikh Parliament American chapter will work with other NGO’s and
international U.N. bodies, the US Commission international Religious Freedom
(USCIRF), the US Department of State, the US Department of Justice to protect the
rights of the sikhs in the United States of America and in india.

5) The world sikh parliament America region will work with existing Panthic sikh
institutions and will align with them to create a global framework that empowers the
community globally.
