100 — Wenco Essentials
The nine essential courses of Wenco Learning provide a foundation for understanding Wenco, fleet management
systems (FMS), and the e-learning platform itself. Content in these courses focuses on concepts in fleet management
and the core Wenco applications used by all mine departments. All courses in this category are prerequisites for the
advanced courses of Wenco Learning that cover topics specific to each role at a mine site.

101 — Welcome to Wenco Learning


This course introduces new users to the Wenco Learning platform. Students receive instruction
on how to navigate the e-learning portal and how to work with the components of each module,
including testing and interactive elements.

102 — Introduction to Wenco


Introduction to Wenco presents an overview of Wenco International Mining Systems and the
Wencomine fleet management system. Students gain an understanding of the organization’s history, its
mission, and its systems and services.

103 — Introduction to Fleet Management Systems


This course introduces students to important concepts in fleet management. Students learn about the
uses and benefits of an FMS and the specific approach of the Wencomine system.

104 — WencoDB Home


The WencoDB Home course introduces students to the graphical interface for Wencomine’s SQL
Server database. Students learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Review raw mine data stored in the database
• Generate reports about mine operations
• Update the database
• Apply database inquiries to sort and filter mine information
• Manage resources using Roster Generator

105a and 105b — Fleet Control


Fleet Control is an essential tool for users of Wencomine FMS. This application lets dispatchers
monitor and command active equipment on site. Students reviewing this course will learn how to
perform the following tasks:
• View real-time hauling between digging and dumping locations
• Track material grade and movement on real-time screens
• Supervise equipment activity
• Generate onscreen reports of equipment and mine production
• Update equipment record information
• Edit database records from within the application
• Change digging locations for units or operators
• Communicate with equipment operators

106 — MineVision
Along with Fleet Control, MineVision is the main real-time application that dispatchers use to run
their sites. This application shows dispatchers a real-time map of the whole mine site, highlighting
equipment location and activity. Students of this course learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Understand real-time position monitoring
• Manage elements of the graphic spatial database, including exclusion zones and haul roads
• Monitor equipment activity

107 — Event Monitor


This module gives students insight into Wenco’s event and message generating system. Students of the
Event Monitor course learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Interact with the components of Event Monitor
• Understand event severity
• Configure alerts based on event type
• Use features of Event Monitor, including the event editor
• Review event history

108 — Mobile Data Terminal


The Mobile Data Terminal is the chief source of communication between dispatchers and machine
operators. This onboard screen allows operators to view their assignments, status, and KPIs while
maintaining situational awareness. Students of this course learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Monitor and command mining equipment through the terminal
• Communicate with machine operators
• Run database queries
• Access data on machine performance

109 — Dashboard
Dashboard combines three distinct reporting tools to help Wenco users make sense of mine data.
This data supports decision-making to improve the productivity and effectiveness of mine operations.
Students of this course will learn to perform the following tasks:
• Understand Wenco data reporting
• Analyze data
• Summarize data to make it actionable
• Understand widgets and compile them into dashboards

200 — Wenco Champion
After completing the Wenco Essentials, students must complete the following courses to receive Wenco Champion
certification.

201 — Wenco User Manager


Wenco User Manager lets the Wenco Champion control security and privileges for users of the Wenco system.
Through this application, Wenco Champions can create user profiles, define roles, and set permissions for each
user. This course shows students how to create these profiles and how to define privileges.

202 — Wenco Control Centre


Wenco Control Centre allows a site’s Wenco Champion to monitor and control all Wenco
services and database jobs. At the end of this course, students will be able to perform the
following tasks:
• Control and monitor Wenco services
• Run, enable, and disable Wenco-specific database jobs
• Activate the Standby Server as the Operational Server
• Complete a system upgrade

203 — Onboard Insight


Onboard Insight lets users collect machine health data from equipment OEM systems. In this course,
students will learn how to use Onboard Insight to perform the following tasks:
• Poll OEM systems for vital sign information
• View all available machine parameters
• Track specific parameters for equipment type or equipment unit
• Use Wenco reports to review historical OEM parameter information

204 — Radio Traffic Monitor


Strong communication keeps the entire operation running smoothly. The Radio Traffic
Monitor assists communication by showing all messages that pass through the Radio Channel
Service in real time. Students of this course will learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Understand the functions of the Radio Traffic Monitor and the Radio Channel Service
• Monitor real-time radio traffic
• Review historical radio traffic information

205 — Mobile Software Distributor


The Mobile Software Distributor (MSD) lets Wenco Champions perform remote installs and updates
to Wenco mobile software. This course introduces students to critical components of the application,
including MSD Admin, MSD Agent, and MSD Service.

206 — Mobile Diagnostic Utility
The Mobile Diagnostic Utility allows technical staff to review diagnostic messages from the onboard
screens of their equipment. Students of this course will learn to understand how their units’ displays
connect to the Wenco system and how to work with their diagnostics messages.

207 — Understanding Dig Blocks


Understanding Dig Blocks allows participants to become familiar with importing and editing dig
blocks. Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Understand the importance of dig blocks
• Import dig blocks
• Edit the data import profile

300 — Dispatching
After completing the Wenco Essentials, students must complete the following courses to receive the Dispatching
certification.

301 — Introduction to Dynamic Dispatch


Dynamic Dispatch sends dispatch assignments to operators automatically based on a user-defined
set of priorities. Dispatchers can configure the service to consider the mine plan, productivity goals,
ore quality, crusher rates, waste delivery, and other parameters when making dispatch decisions. By
the end of this course, students will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Understand the Dynamic Dispatch algorithm
• Configure Dynamic Dispatch for everyday use
• Understand the tools available within Dynamic Dispatch
• Input criteria into the system, such as a shovel priorities and blending requirements
• Define shovel-truck groups
• Lock trucks to specific shovels
• Apply Dynamic Dispatch for dispatching confidence and consistency

302 — Full Dispatch


This course introduces dispatchers to the process the Wenco Dispatching Service uses to assign loaded
trucks to dump locations. Various settings are available for dispatchers to configure for trucks hauling
ore or waste material. By the end of this module, dispatchers will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Explain the logic used in full dispatch calculations
• Configure the Wenco Dispatching Service for ore delivery
• Configure the Wenco Dispatching Service for waste delivery
• Understand the restrictions available for the full dispatching process
• Apply full dispatching restrictions to enforce delivery of a particular material blend
• Configure full dispatch settings to enhance confidence and consistency in material delivery

304a, 304b, and 304c — Understanding Dynamic Dispatch
This course focuses on the foundational concepts of effective Dynamic Dispatch. Essential theories
and applications of optimal dispatching are introduced over three separate units. By the end of this
course, students will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Understand and explain the stages of Dynamic Dispatch
• Configure Dynamic Dispatch groups for optimal production
• Understand and explain the logic of dispatch schedule calculations
• Understand and explain real-time application of the Wenco Dispatching Service
• Configure blend priorities for use within Dynamic Dispatch
• Understand and explain equipment associations and interactions within Dynamic Dispatch

305a, 305b, and 305c — Configuring Dynamic Dispatch


This course builds on the information presented in Understanding Dynamic Dispatch, focusing on
customizing the Wenco Dispatching Service configuration for a range of production goals. By the end
of this module, students will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Understand and explain the management of haul routes for use with Dynamic Dispatch
• Configure, view, and monitor haul routes through MineVision
• Manage dispatch constraints for use with Dynamic Dispatch
• Configure loading equipment for use with Dynamic Dispatch
• Configure dump times for use with Dynamic Dispatch
• Set dump targets for use with Dynamic Dispatch
• Perform advanced dump, grades, and blend configurations

306a, 306b, and 306c — Maximizing Dynamic Dispatch


The final course in the Dispatching certification pathway, Maximizing Dynamic Dispatch brings
together all competencies required for effective use of Wenco’s Dynamic Dispatch. The three units
incorporate activities and simulation-based learning to ensure that students can apply the principles
introduced throughout the course to derive the most value from Dynamic Dispatch. By the end of this
course, students will be able to perform all tasks necessary to operate Dynamic Dispatch at its fullest
potential.

400 — Machine Guidance
After completing the Wenco Essentials, students of the Machine Guidance course must complete the following modules
to receive Wenco Machine Guidance certification.

401 — Understanding BenchManager


This course introduces operators to BenchManager, a machine guidance system that adds precision to
shovels, loaders, and backhoes. Students of this course will learn about the following concepts to help
them use BenchManager for improved ore quality control:
• Elevation
• Cut/fill information
• Shovel application
• Ore boundaries
• Toe and crest zones
• Mined out progression
• Bucket positioning

402 — Configuring BenchManager


Participants will learn about the advanced functionality for shovels, loaders, and backhoes that
BenchManager provides. This course builds on Understanding BenchManager, focusing on how to
configure BenchManager for optimal performance.

207 — Understanding Dig Blocks


Understanding Dig Blocks allows participants to become familiar with importing and editing dig
blocks. Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Understand the importance of dig blocks
• Import dig blocks
• Edit the data import profile

403 — BenchView
The BenchView application connects office personnel to the mobile units equipped with
BenchManager that operate in the pit. At the end of this course, students will be able to perform the
following tasks:
• Maintain constant communication between BenchView and mobile units
• View and understand real-time map displays
• Monitor multiple BenchManager units simultaneously
• Create and update job files sent to mobile units
• Import files from third-party design software
• Integrate BenchManager into other Wenco application workflows

403 — Arm Geometry System (AGS)
The Arm Geometry System adds greater precision to excavators by installing accelerometers along the
unit. This precision enhances ore quality control and allows for complex maneuvers, such as digging a
vertical split bench. Students of the AGS course will learn to operate excavators using absolute bucket
positioning for improved accuracy and control.

500 — Additional Recommended Learning


These additional Wenco Learning courses are recommended for further education about the Wencomine fleet
management system and its applications. Please note that any course from any pathway is available for addition to a
custom learning program.

501 — PitNav
PitNav adds turn-by-turn navigation to an equipment unit’s onboard touchscreen. A supplementary
map updates the operator in real time as the unit travels through the mine site. Students of the PitNav
course will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Navigate using GPS-enabled route guidance, turn by turn
• Understand the tools and information included in PitNav
• Calculate alternate routes when a unit skews off-route
• Understand auto-switching between display screens when events occur

502 — PitNav with Fleet Awareness


This course introduces Fleet Awareness, Wenco’s enhanced safety add-on to its PitNav turn-by-turn
navigation tool. Fleet Awareness integrates with PitNav to show real-time movement of all Wenco-
equipped vehicles on site. By the end of this course, students will be able to perform the follows tasks
involving Fleet Awareness:
• Explain the purpose and use of the location tracking service
• Describe all additional components of Fleet Awareness
• Identify graphical elements used by Fleet Awareness
• Identify other nearby Wenco-equipped vehicles using Fleet Awareness
• Configure audio and visual warnings

503 — Maintenance Monitor
Maintenance Monitor allows crew members to track the progress of repairs and upkeep on equipment,
facilitating improved planning and scheduling. In this course, students will learn how to do the following:
• Improve maintenance planning practices
• Understand how to reduce maintenance costs
• Understand how to reduce unplanned maintenance and rework
• Apply Maintenance Monitor to track equipment from initial down status until it returns to active duty

504— Mobile Supervisor Terminal


This module introduces students to the Mobile Supervisor Terminal, a tool for adding dispatcher
functionality to an in-pit light vehicle. Students of this course learn how to perform the following tasks:
• Understand the features of the Mobile Supervisor Terminal (MST) application
• View and modify loading, hauling, and auxiliary equipment information
• View current events in real time
• View system-wide KPI data

505 — PitNav Map Manager


PitNav Map Manager allows users to configure the functions and display of the PitNav navigation
system. Students of this course will learn how to fulfill the following objectives:
• Understand the features and functions of PitNav
• Modify the map appearance attributes and parameters of PitNav
• Customize PitNav map backgrounds
• Upload map parameter data via FTP

506 — TireMax
Tires are a major operating cost for a mine. TireMax helps mines extend the life of their tires by
monitoring their ongoing condition. This course presents students with information to let them fulfill
the following objectives:
• Explore the features of TireMax, including real-time data, calculations, and customization functions
• Understand the TKPH/TMPH formula used to track tire condition
• Apply the information from TireMax to reduce tire issues and prevent unscheduled maintenance

507— Reporting Server
The Wenco Reporting Server is an additional server available to handle all reporting and data analysis
for the Wenco system. In this course, students will learn how to use the Reporting Server to perform
the following tasks:
• Configure data from the Wenco Operational Database Server
• Set the Reporting Server as the default source for SSRS and WencoDB Home reports
• Reconcile multiple database sources into a single server

508 — ReadyLine
ReadyLine is Wenco’s asset health management application, a tool for monitoring the condition of
machine components to facilitate predictive maintenance. At the end of this course, students will be
able to fulfill the following objectives:
• Understand the benefits of ReadyLine, including reduced downtime, reduced operation costs, and
improved planning
• Use ReadyLine’s tools to apply preventive maintenance
• Define and initiate a proactive maintenance culture

509 — Fuel Dispatch


This course shows dispatchers how to optimize their mine’s fueling process using Wenco Fuel
Dispatch, a service that routes equipment to fueling locations. Students of this course learn to perform
the following tasks:
• Understand the components of Fuel Dispatch
• Apply Fuel Dispatch to maximize fueling efficiency
• Apply user-configurable presets
• Increase fueling efficiency through time optimization and reduced congestion at fueling locations

Safety Training
To complement Wenco Learning’s online training, we also offer hands-on programs that focus on operational safety at
mine sites. These courses expand on the material covered in the e-learning modules, broadening their focus to address
general safety issues and hazard prevention. Each course runs for two hours and occurs in-person, either at a client site
or in a classroom available at Wenco headquarters.
