Description CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer 1. Features of the Synchronization

Description

CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer

1. Features of the Synchronization Controller

· As an synchronization controller based on dual microcomputer system, CM-320 controller

is provided with high reliability, because it is independent between two systems. Compared with

other synchronization controller, this Controller has many special features, such as high

integration with high reliability, perfect performance, etc.

· Based on the Modern Control Theory, the Controller predict and control CB’s closing

phase angle and adjust the voltage and frequency of the synchronized object. In this manner,

precision of synchronization is improved and speed of electric network link is accelerated.

· The Controller could support 8 synchronized objects at most, each object could be set to

Generator-Type or Line-Type.

· The synchronization of each pair could be set respectively.

· Compensates for voltage amplitude and phase of two sides are supported.

· All parameters of the synchronization are set by digital, it could also adjust zero offset and

liner automatically. So it brings more convenience to operation maintenance, even no

maintenance is insured.

· Perspicuously, indication of the phase angle can be displayed by LEDs distributed in

amphtheatrical.

· Serial Communication Interface

The Terminal Arrangement of the Controller

JUN.2004

5

NANJING

COMING

Description CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer as shown in Fig4-2 ,the terminal

Description

CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer

as shown in Fig4-2 ,the terminal arrangement is described as follows:

J1: J1 should be connected to reliable power supply of AC200V or DC220V, “earth” should be connected to ground. J2: For the CB of generator-type, PTs is connected to PT-voltage of system side and PTg is connected to PT-voltage of generator side. For the breaker of line-type, PTs is connected to PT-voltage of system side and PTg is connected to PT-voltage of bus side. Note: The PT polarities for both voltage signals have to be correct.

Generally, the input voltage of two PT should be correspond their line voltage between phase A and

phase B (~ 100V), otherwise feedback value of phase or voltage should be set in this Controller.

J3: Digital Output

Digital Output signals include:

J3-1,J3-2: Speed(frequency) Raise Output: When synchronizing a generator to the bus bar or line system, the Output is employed to regulate the generator speed(frequency). J3-2,J3-3: Speed(frequency) Lower Output: When synchronizing a generator to the bus bar or line system, the Output is employed to regulate the generator speed(frequency). J3-4,J3-5: Voltage Raise Output: When synchronizing a generator to the bus bar or line system, the Output is employed to regulate the generator voltage. J3-5,J3-6: Voltage Lower Output: When synchronizing a generator to the bus bar or line system, the Output is employed to regulate the generator voltage. J3-7,J3-8: Alarm Output: When synchronizing failed the output is set. J3-9,J3-10: CB Close Output command: the contact is closing when all synchronizing conditions are satisfactory. J3-11,J3-12: LB Output: the LB Output is operating simultaneously with CB Close Output.

J4Status Input

Input of object 1-8 See Fig4.1 , Explanations for J4 connection CM-320 may support 8 synchronization objects at most. Object is connected according to its practical use, if some object is not needed, it does not make connection. “No voltage enable” digital input signal should be connected when “Select no voltage” mode is selected and there are no-voltage synchronization requirements. If there are no

Description

no-voltage synchronization requirements, “No voltage enable” signal is unnecessary to be

connected.

If the synchronization object is more than 1, user should add external logic switch for the

output wire of J3 at the rear of the Controller , in order to switch them to the output/input loop

corresponding to synchronization object.

4.3 DIP Switch Setting

There is a 4bit DIP switch on the back of the Controller; the switch arrangement is described as following Table 4-1:

4.3.1 Select no-voltageMode

In table4-1, when bit4 in the “off ”position the mode is “Auto no-voltage” mode,bit4 in the

“on ”position the mode is “Select no-voltage” mode.

In “Select no-voltage” mode, J4-10 on the back is defined as “No-voltage enable” digital

input signal. When this digital input signal is on, it means that the synchronization mode of this

object is no-voltage synchronization. Only under two instances as following:

Generator-type breaker: U S 50V and (U g 80V| 50Hz or U g 65V| 60Hz )

Line-type breaker: U S 50V or U g 50V

at this time, the closing condition is satisfied, otherwise closing condition is not satisfied and CB

is not closed.

4.3.2 Auto no-voltageMode

In this modeJ6-4 on the back board is defined as “PT broken” digital input signal. When

JUN.2004

7

NANJING

COMING

Description CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer synchronization is started and “PT

Description

CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer

synchronization is started and “PT broken” signal is off, if following two conditions are satisfied:

Generator-type breaker: U S 50V andU g 80V| 50Hz or U g 65V| 60Hz Line-type breaker: U S 50V or U g 50V the condition of closing is satisfied, and CB closing signal is output. When synchronization is started, if the value of Us and Ug are all over than 50V and “PT broken” is off, this Controller will catch the synchronization point. During this catching process, if Us or Ug is suddenly less than 50V, the Controller will take for that the condition of synchronization is not satisfied and will not send switching signal, even “PT broken” is still off.

4.3.3 Other Explanations for Selection of no-valtage/auto

no-voltage Mode

The selection of this mode is decided by the position of DIP switch, so all 8 objects managed by the Synchronization Controller must be set to the same mode. Generally, “Auto no-voltage” mode is fit for transformer substation; “Select no-voltage” mode is fit for power plant. Of course, if this CM-320 Controller is cooperated with other control system and “No-voltage enable” signal is properly provided, it could also be used in the instance of transformer substation.

4.4 Interface Requirement

1(1) Start: Pulse input, Width1 second. 2(2) No-voltage enable: Stability signal, kept up until start signal is valid. 3(3) Object 1-8: Stability signal, kept up until start signal is valid. 4(4) All output signal: AC220V/1A or DC48V/5A, cosϕ=1.

6. Calibrate Controller

There is no adjustable-resistor in the CM-320 synchronization Controller (Only one adjustable-resistor is used for adjusting the light of LCD). The phase angle error and voltage error of the Controller are automatically corrected by calibration process. As a whole synchronization Controller, it has been calibrated before shipping. So frequent or periodic calibration of the Controller is not advocated. But if some component has been replaced, new calibration is needed.

6.1 Preparation for Calibration

(1) Wire Connection As shown in Fig6.1-1, connect PTs and PTg of J2 together (Definition for J2 is referred to Table 3.1-1), and then input 100V/50Hz AC standard voltage signal.

In this expression, e n is the offset value of n time of day, in CM-320, U, f adjustments have

the same parameters model.

If Kif, Kiv, Kdf, Kdv are all equal to 0, and it only considers the equivalent relationship

between Kpf, Kdv factors and the adjusting pulse width of output:

(1) Kpf

If the output pulse width of adjusting speed is y f, the difference value between measuring

value of current rotation speed and its ideal value is Δf, that is

Δff g f s,

then y f Kpf×Δf/10

Unit of Δf: 0.01H z

Unit of y f : 10ms

When y f >0, send a pulse of ω−; when y f <0, send a pulse of ω+

The Controller should send one pulse of ω+ with the width of 2 seconds.

(2) Kpv

If the output pulse width of adjusting voltage is y v , the difference value between measuring

Δuu g u s , then the equivalent

value of current voltage and its ideal value is Δu, that is

relationship is : y v 10 Kpv×Δu

Unit of Δu: 0.1V, Unit of y v : 10ms

When y v >0, send a pulse of V+, when y v <0, send a pulse of V-

if Δuu g u s 5V, and Kpv is set as 30

Then

The Controller should send a pulse of V- with the width of 1.5 seconds.

8. Synchronization Experiment

After all the synchronization parameters have been set, it may start the process of

synchronization. The synchronization experiment is to trip the disconnect switch which

correlative with synchronization CB and make the synchronization CB close on in the instance

with no current, that is the process of “False electric network connection”.

8.1 Safety Steps

(1) Trip the disconnect switch first.

(2) When the Controller is used in the synchronization of unit CB, in order to avoid that other

monitoring and control system may cause the abnormal quit of adjusting speed because of

false electric network connection, so it should put off the power adjustment for this unit in

monitoring and control system (for example, removing the output relay of power

adjustment).

(3) Optical oscillograph should be connected if necessary.

Description

CM-320 Automatic synchronization controller based Dual Microcomputer

(1) Connect according to the requirements in section 4.2 Thereunto, except in the mode of interface point startup as shown in Fig4.2, “Start” signal may be started or through pressing “Sync test” menu on the panel of the Controller. In experiment, Input signal “Object” and “no voltage enable/PT broken” may be controlled by other control system, or corresponding interface points are connected manually according to the methods shown in Fig4.2. (2) Start synchronization controller and observe the effect of CB closed It should notice to observe the output effect of adjusting and that of final switching on after this Controller is started through its menu on the panel or the external interface point with line connection (When the interface point is started, it must be kept close over one second). According to the effects of rotation speed and voltage adjustment output, it may modify PID parameters of adjusting speed and voltage to get the satisfied effect of adjusting process. It is especially noted that: it should analyze whether the angle of switching on is in the permitted technology target range or not through observing the curve screened by synchronizer or optical oscillograph. If there appears abnormality of switching on angle, it should check the connection of PT (Including checking phase order, end of same name) and whether the setting of synchronization parameters (especially the leading-ahead time) is correct or not. It is especially explained that, in the occasion of rotating angle, there is a constant rotating angle offset between the practical synchronization point and the theory synchronization point indicated by the phase angle curve of Controller entrance (the offset of rotating angle could be set in the menu of synchronization parameters), it is right; on the contrary, if there is no offset of rotating angle, it is wrong.

It needs to explain especially: all synchronization objects to be used should all be repeated above process and be experimented one by one.

8.3 Put into Running of Synchronization Controller and Eliminate

the Cause of Synchronization Failure

When the synchronization experiments of all synchronization objects have been finished and experiment results are proved correct, it needs to remove the line connection, recover the synchronization switch to its opening position, push corresponding disconnect switch to its close

position, and recover the line connection in the instance of running, then it may put into its normal running. During the synchronizating of the Controller, if synchronization is successful, it will show the information “Sync is ok” on LCD; if synchronization is failed, it will display the detail cause of failure on LCD (Please see Table 8.3-1), the format of display is the same as that of Fig6.2-2. It may check and eliminate the fault according to the failed cause displayed. When the synchronization operation is failed, the synchronization failure relay of the Controller will do action, this relay will not revert until the synchronization of the Controller is started again next time.

10. Usage of Reset Key on Panel

After pressing the “RESET” key, the program inside of the Controller will be run from the beginning, just as switching on power again when the Controller is switched off its power. During the process of synchronizating, pressing this key will induce the loose of command this time. So, this key should not be used in normal instance, except in necessary instance.
