Overall aim and context of the lesson

In this part of lesson students will be investigating what would happen when children mixed
a variety of solids and liquids together. So, they will explore these during the experiment
they well do.

Select (S):
The lesson is about state of matters and students will be able to know that some materials will
dissolve in liquid to form a solution.

Describe (D):
The lesson is for grade 6 students and the lesson is in the classroom. We are doing the learning
through a ‘doing’ strategy, so the students were doing the experiment and learning about how
some solids dissolve in water. The students were doing the experiment. They enjoyed it and they
learnt, and I noticed that they understood why some solids dissolved and some did not in water.

Analyze (A):
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? When I ask students the different
between dissolve \ melting they respond very well when they know that dissolve is a solid dissolve
into liquid and melting is one thing melting and they mention ice i think that they really understand
and want to learn more. The lesson were about dissolve some solid into liquid that relate to
students prior knowledge and they know that there are three states of matter which is “ solid ,
liquid , gas “ . I engaged the students by asking them question about the state of matter and give
them an interesting introduction about the experiment that they will do it.
Appraise (A):
So, the students were mixing up some solids with liquid for example : sugar and water , rice and
water and so on , my teaching goals were achieved when the student able to know that some solid
dissolve in water and some not.
Transform (T):
Next time lesson I will try to give less instructions to the students and not make them confuse, also
I think that modeling next time should be shown to the all the class because when I saw that the
students were still not understanding, I model but not all of them were able to observe.
I believe that every teacher learn from their mistakes , I think that I have a variety of chances to
make my teaching much better each time.
