At first we would like to thank the mightiest and our parents. Without their blessing, we could
not be successful in completing the study. We would like to thank our honorable course teacher
of Department of Finance, Dr. M. Farid Ahmed for providing us such an opportunity to prepare
the Report on “Mutual Fund in Bangladesh”. Without his helpful guidance, the completion
of this report was unthinkable. During our preparation of the report work, we have come to
very supportive touch of different individuals & friends and professionals who lent their ideas,
time & caring guidance to amplify the report’s contents. We want to convey our heartiest
gratitude to them for their valuable responses.

Executive Summary

Mutual funds are special vehicles for individuals to invest their money in the stock or bond
market. They are ideal for individual investors with limited funds, as they can gain access to
diversification benefits even though they may have a modest amount to invest. It is often said
that mutual fund are investment tools which are equivalent of frozen dinner. While deciding to
make investments in mutual funds, investors do not have to make decisions about which stocks
to buy.

In this report the above mentioned core characteristics of mutual funds and its application and
present market or industry conditioned has been discussed. Bangladesh has a great potential in
this sector as it is at its beginning stage. But, the recent unfavorable change in the number of
available funds has deteriorate the situation slightly. But, the positive thing is that the asset
management companies has increased in 2015 to 2016. So, it is a positive sign that the growth
and development of this high potential sector.

Besides, the regulations that have to maintain by the different parities of this industry is also
mentioned. The formation process and different parties of trade union is described below.
