Design the Culture of Achievement

In this part of the assignment the designing of the Culture of Achievement will be

established. This is started by identifying and incorporating the leadership strategies and

processes that are employed to create a shared culture of achievement. After assessing the

Cultural Leadership Assessment Instrument categories on the Learning Objects page we are able

to establish cultural leadership strategies that will be used in this summer camp. This will be

done using the following behaviors. Receive Information: Collect and record from all sources,

which would be campers, staff, administration and parents. Respond to Information: Always take

feedback and be able to manage it properly. Translate into Values: Collaborate with participating

groups and individuals to observe outcomes. Organize Values: Prioritize and synthesize

collective information to an appropriate system. Internalize Values: “Acculturate these values

into the organization through facilitation of the group to own and police them until the behavior

is pervasive, consistent, predictable, and characteristic of the organization” (Moye, 2018, para.

12).

Now we must identify cultural leadership strategies to develop a shared mission, vision,

and values statements for the Summer Camp. SMART or Specific, Measurable, Achievable,

Realistic, and Time-bound are terms of the model to guide us in the institution's statement. Up

first is Specific, where we establish the clear understanding of the concept that we will use in the

statement. Next is Measurable, this distinguishes how meaningful the statement can be and

achievable lays out the capableness of getting there. The A in SMART is for achievable,

achieving must be within the limits of the institution itself. Realistic: within the environment the

concepts can be achieved. “Time-bound – the processes identified in the statement can be

observed within a defined time” (Moye, 2018, para. 7). With these leadership strategies and a

mix of organizational communication strategies and techniques such as consistent

communication, efficient communication and taking ownership, the organization can and will be

successful. These strategies will contribute to a culture of achievement and measured through the

key performance indicators so there can be monitoring, demonstration and improvement made

for the effectiveness of our leadership approach.
