Tanks are easy to climb in and out of and are nearly impossible to
upset. They are so stable that you don’t even have to get your toes
wet if you don’t want to, but your friends will appreciate you hop-
ping out if a shallow stretch necessitates dragging your tank a short
distance. With room for 6 to 8 people, tanking offers great places for
making memories while enjoying floating picnic lunches. Bringing
along a watermelon, breaking it on the riverbank, and sharing with
friends is tanking tradition.
Don’t be a square. Floating in a tank with your circle of friends is a
memorable and exciting way to ‘tanking’ the scenic route through
Western Nebraska.

HEMINGFORD
Hemingford is a patriotic town.
The community 18 miles northwest
of Alliance displays more than 200
American flags along its famous Avenue
of Flags during holidays such as July 4th
weekend, Flag Day, Memorial Day and
Veterans Day. Each flag once draped the
casket of a veteran from the area, some of
whom served in conflicts dating back to
the Civil War.
Hemingford is home to the Box Butte
County Fair in August. During the
holiday season, Hemingford displays its
Christmas Diorama. The drive-thru
diorama, which dates to 1955, depicts
scenes painted on wood panels. The
