Lancaster Theological Seminary Opens 194th Spring Term with Address by

Lancaster Mayor Danene Sorace

Lancaster Theological Seminary welcomes Lancaster Mayor Danene Sorace to deliver the Spring
Convocation address on Jan. 11, 2019.

Lancaster, PA, December 20, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Lancaster City Mayor Danene Sorace will deliver the
Spring Convocation address at Lancaster Theological Seminary on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 3:30 p.m.
in Santee Chapel on the campus of Lancaster Seminary. The title of Sorace's address is “AND.”

Lancaster Seminary convenes convocation twice a year, in August and January. The ceremonial event
serves as the official opening of each academic term and features an academic procession, prayers and
hymns, and an address from a prominent academic, religious or community leader. The public is invited.

"Mayor Sorace's presence at Convocation signifies the importance of combining the efforts of local
governments, faith communities, and nonprofits in improving the lives of all citizens,” said Lancaster
Seminary President Carol E. Lytch. “Mayor Sorace believes that faith communities are natural partners
with government to advance the well-being of all people. We look forward to hearing more about her
vision for a prosperous community that extends beyond economics to what I call the 'prosperity of the
soul,' advancing the flourishing of those who are marginalized and preserving the land, water and the
natural environment.”

Sorace served four years on Lancaster City Council before being elected mayor in November 2017. For
20 years before entering politics, she worked as a nonprofit consultant on issues of public policy, health,
and the environment. She has a master's degree in public policy from Rutgers University.

Lancaster Theological Seminary is a richly diverse and inclusive graduate school of theology offering the
following degrees: Master of Divinity, Doctor of Ministry, and Master of Arts in Ministry and
Leadership. Details at lancasterseminary.edu.
