Mauritius Metro Express Project

Closure of Slip Lane, Southbound of Motorway M1 at Caudan Interchange, Port Louis

The public is hereby informed that construction works pertaining to the Metro Express Project will be carried
out along the slip lane along the southbound carriageway of Motorway M1 leading to the Caudan Interchange
near the Peninsula Building where Top FM is located as from 11.00 hours on Friday 21st December 2018 and for
a period of 10 weeks.

Accordingly, entry onto Caudan roundabout via the slip lane for traffic along Motorway M1 heading towards
Maupin Street, Caudan Area, Les Salines and also along the exit lane at the roundabout to join the southbound
carriageway of Motorway M1 through the acceleration lane will be prohibited. Consequently, the following traffic
diversion schemes will be put in place:

 Traffic along Motorway M1 heading towards Maupin Street will be diverted along Falcon Street near the
Peninsula Building and Motais Street to ultimately join Maupin Street.
 Traffic along Motorway M1 proceeding towards Les Salines and Caudan Area will be diverted along
Falcon Street near the Peninsula Building, Motais Street, Johanna Street and Marie Octave Sandapa
Street to ultimately join Caudan roundabout near Gold Leaf Hotel.
 Buses along Motorway M1 heading towards Les Salines and Caudan Area will be diverted along Falcon
Street near the Peninsula Building, Motais Street, Maupin Street, Brabant Street, Cassis Road, Gallet
Street and Marie Octave Sandapa Street to ultimately join Caudan roundabout. All buses along
Motorway M1 which operate though Maupin Street will be diverted along Falcon Street and Motais
Street.
 Heavy Goods Vehicles exceeding 12m driven along the southbound carriageway on Motorway M1
heading towards Les Salines and Caudan Area will be required to proceed towards Pailles Interchange
to ultimately join the northbound carriageway of Motorway M1 to proceed towards Les Salines and
Caudan Area.

Traffic signs will be set up to inform and guide road users along the different diverted routes for the different
categories of vehicles. Moreover, traffic signs will also be fixed to prohibit on-street parking along all the
diverted routes.
Traffic will be controlled by the Police at strategic locations during rush hours.

Drivers are strongly advised to exercise caution when approaching the works area and to drive within the
prevailing speed limit.
