TNB Street Light Tariff Change

Problem Definition
Street Lighting tariff is RM0.164 per kWh and currently, UTM is using tariff of RM0.312 per kWh. This is due
tfeeder pillars of the street lighting is connected to main meter which is using RM0.312 per kWh.
Project Objective
Enjoy 48% reduction of electrical energy usage of UTM Street Lights from RM0.312/kWh to RM0.164/kWh or
estimated saving of RM130,000.00 per year.
Project Description
This project will look on how to change UTM’s Street Lights Electrical bill tariff from Tariff C1 to G1 and
identified the technical requirement in order for UTM to enjoy the cheaper tariff by 48%.
Project Scope
Installation of TNB’s kWh meter at 3 feeder pillars below:
1. Feeder Pillar at Main Substation
2. Feeder Pillar at KDSE Substation
3. Feeder Pillar at KTGB Substation
Result

Feeder pillar location Saving in kWh & RM as of June 2014

Main Substation Saving of 160,248 kWh or RM30,447

KDSE Substation Saving of 91,455 kWh or RM17,376

KTGB Substation Saving of 86,132 kWh or RM16,365

Total saving 337,535 kWh or RM64,188
