4. Professional Experience and Skills on Water and sanitation Project

Coordinate EDA Ethiopia’s sanitation and hygiene program, ensuring that it is evidence and
experience based and well linked with water and other sectoral activities.
Act as EDA Ethiopia’s point person for ecological sanitation, coordinating the program and
spearheading learning, documentation and experience sharing both within EDA and its partners and
with government and other agencies.
Work closely with the EDA Ethiopia HIV and AIDS program to improve the quality of EDA
Ethiopia’s safe water, sanitation and hygiene programming for people infected and affected by
HIV/AIDS, acting as EDA Ethiopia’s point person for joint working with the Hygiene Improvement
Practices project and community of practice.
Be responsible for EDA Ethiopia partner capacity building in the areas of sanitation and hygiene
with a particular focus on ecological sanitation and community planning with PHAST (Participatory
Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation). Source and distribute to partners and EDA staff materials
and learning in these focal areas and lead on program quality improvement as required. Be a trainer
in PHAST and ecological sanitation.
Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Unit to design and implement WASH surveys
and evaluations and ensure that the results of these are used to influence program/project/activity
design and implementation.
Be responsible for project design, budgeting, proposal writing and management as requested. Ensure
projects meet government, EDA and donor planning, programming, monitoring, reporting and
financial requirements, including program quality standards.
Work closely with Program Quality point person to assist partners in developing exit strategies for
existing and new sanitation and hygiene programs/projects.
Ensure that partners receive project resources timely and make use of the resources according to the
plans agreed upon with EDA through review of their resource requests and liquidation documents
sent to EDA.
Monitor and support sanitation and hygiene activities through adequate site visits and meetings with
partner and project staff, beneficiaries and concerned government agencies. Prepare field trip reports
within one week of return, and ensure that copies are sent to the partners and other agencies as
necessary in a timely fashion.
Ensure that appropriate documentation of learning and best practices of project activities of
Sanitation and Hygiene are done.
Assist partners to maintain close relationship with line ministries and other organizations working in
CRS assisted project areas to facilitate information exchange on planned activities and to fulfill
government requirements.
Identify new partners, assess partner needs and support new and existing partners in designing
projects and implementing capacity building plans.
Work closely with the Program Quality point person to assist in identifying training needs of partner
staff and project participants, and in organizing and conducting the required training.
Network and liaise with other EDA programs around the world, other NGOs, government, other
donors to learn and share information on sanitation and hygiene activities and programs in Ethiopia
Through participation in regular project meetings, ensure that appropriate project and management
staff are informed of all essential issues and events regarding potential and ongoing projects and that
sanitation and hygiene activities are well integrated with water and other sectoral activities.
Ensure that all relevant documents are properly maintained according to the established (or
improved) filing system.
Ensure/build teamwork with all staff/sectors within the Department.
Represent EDA Ethiopia sanitation and hygiene section in the absence of the program manager

5. Professional Experience and Skills on Social Affairs /Sociology

Participates in the analysis of social development issues in selected areas at the regional and
national levels; undertakes empirical research and analysis of trends and developments and
related policy issues relevant to the departmental mandate, projects and initiatives;
Manage the development of annual work plans and reports, quarterly work plans and reports and
ensure integration of community projects and activities in the larger project work plan.
Consolidate and disseminate knowledge and information regarding best practices, lessons
learned, and proven approaches around community mobilization, stigma reduction and addressing
gender issues and HIV/Aids
Develops indicators and methodologies for review and evaluation of specific social issues and
related topics;
Develop appropriate technical support plans and activities to address the issues around stigma,
gender and other barriers to access to various HIV and AIDs services identified through
community assessments.

economic development related matters;
Prepares/contributes to the preparation of various written reports, documents and
communications, e.g. drafts reports or sections of analytical reports, studies, background papers,
parliamentary documents, briefings and correspondence
Coaching, mentoring of community, design technical approaches and strategies, with the goal of
improving access and utilization of comprehensive HIV and AIDS services and overall
reproductive health of the city.
Organizes training seminars for experts and CBOs. Prepares documentation for technical
cooperation programmes and projects;
Contributes to the preparation of material for the approval of regional, sectoral technical
cooperation projects;
Monitors, backstops and assesses the implementation of technical cooperation programmes and
projects.
Provides guidance to, and may supervise, new/junior staff; b) Performs other related duties as
required, including a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the final delivery of the work
unit’s services; c) Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities, both internally and
externally.
Ensure quality design and implementation, achievement of results for community mobilization,
stigma reduction and gender empowerment activities within the project, and collaborates with
other technical units to ensure effective teamwork
Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation Activities on yearly planned and achieved targets .
Provide technical leadership in the development of approaches and strategies for mobilizing
communities for home based service and provide sufficient orientation.

Prepares the Academic Calendar of the College and have it approved by the Senate through the
Academic Vice- President.
Chairs the Admissions and Placement committee.
Assigns specific duties for all staff members of the Registrar’s Office and supervises their
