Island
The island is constructed from multiple highly detailed
metal castings, including large pieces that make up the
main parts of the island and smaller pieces, such as stairs,
radars and binoculars.

Stern Funnel
The funnel was a revolutionary design, positioned
below the flight deck, facing down, directing the
exhaust away from the hull. Made from three main
castings and etched brass pieces.

Hangar
If you remove the flight deck, the detailed structure of the hangar
below is revealed. The hangar is made up of two levels: the
removable upper level made from individual ‘trays’, and the lower
level, built onto the frames.

mechanisms and platforms.

Detailed castings 21 die-cast planes

Along with the island and the funnel, there are many
other detailed castings positioned all over the model,
including many anti-aircraft guns, rangefinders, landing
lights, platforms and walkways, support brackets and
pillars, anchors, and lifeboats.
The model has been recreated to match the ship that was used in the attack on
Pearl Harbor, including the three types of plane that would have been carried.
Seven of each of the three planes shown above are supplied in this series and
while more than 21 planes would have been carried on the real ship, the
number supplied can be easily showcased on either the flight deck or the
hangar and elevators.

Wooden hull assembly

The hull is constructed from wood, beginning with the base, frames
and blocks. It is then that the planking and walls of the hangar are
added, increasing the level of detail and revealing more of the shape.
Towards the end of assembly the removable flight deck is added, so
you can reveal the details of the hangar below.
