Una vez obtenidas todas las secciones transversales del tramo a estudiar,
procedimos a introducir las secciones en el programa HEC-RAS. En la
figura 2, podemos apreciar los datos geométricos de la sección 1. Este
proceso se realizó para cada una de las secciones en nuestro tramo de
estudio. Una vez introducimos todas las secciones al programa, obtenemos
una vista de planta con las ubicaciones de las secciones (Ver figura 3).

- Flujo
El flujo para el análisis del tramo estudiado se obtuvo aumentando el flujo hasta
que una de las secciones llegara a su profundidad normal máxima. La figura 7
muestra la sección transversal que determinó el flujo para este proyecto. Este flujo
será el utilizado para las partes II y III. Ese flujo es el que entra a la primera
sección transversal aguas arriba. El flujo calculado para nuestro tramo de estudio
será de 50 m3/s (Ver figura 8).

- Errores o Advertencias
Según el análisis, podemos concluir que el flujo obtenido como flujo base para
nuestro tramo de estudio cumple en todas las secciones transversales. Este flujo sería
el máximo permisible ya que si aumenta tendríamos desbordamiento en una de las
secciones. El modelo del canal se comporta parecido al campo ya que también simula
el salto hidráulico que se había obtenido en pasados proyectos realizados en la
Quebrada y que sabíamos que estaba presente. En cuanto a los avisos del programa se
puede argumentar que en nuestro caso se pueden descartar ya que la parte canalizada
es bastante uniforme y el tramo en tierra no es muy extenso lo que significa que no
varía mucho su geometría en la distancia medida. Este modelo representa bien la
topografía del campo y el comportamiento del flujo en la quebrada. Se estará
utilizando este modelo en las siguientes partes del proyecto.
En la segunda parte del proyecto se analizó el canal incluyendo los puentes que
Cruzan el mismo. Para este análisis se prosiguió con el procedimiento de la parte I y
se le añadieron las secciones en los puentes. Estas secciones adicionales tomadas en
los puentes fueron insertadas en el programa HEC-RAS para analizar el canal. Por
otra parte se analizaron los puentes como Alcantarillas (Culverts). Se repitió el
procedimiento pero se le indico al programa que en lugar de ser puente sería un
Alcantarillado. Por último se obtuvieron los resultados para ambos métodos y se
compararon los resultados de los mismos. En las siguientes secciones se explica al
detalle la metodología utilizada, los resultados y las conclusiones.
2. Antecedentes:
Para realizar el modelaje del cruce de la carretera se utilizaron dos distintas formas.
La primera fue el modelaje de la quebrada con puente. La segunda forma fue el
modelaje de la quebrada con alcantarilla (culvert). Los dos métodos se describen a
continuación.

También se midieron secciones en las caras aguas arriba y aguas abajo del puente.
Estas secciones lo son la sección la sección 4 y 3. Además el programa genera unas
secciones aguas arriba y abajo del puente interpoladas dependiendo de la distancia
que se le indique que se encuentra el puente desde la sección aguas arriba. Los
resultados para dichas secciones se pueden ver en las figuras 24, 25, 26 y 27.
El segundo caso para este puente evalúa la ecuación de energía con el error mínimo
entre los valores asumidos y computados de la superficie de agua. En la figura 29, se
observan estos datos y advertencias.
La profundidad máxima del canal alcanza unos 1.49m mientras que la altura del
cruce de 2.92m. Por lo tanto la superficie del agua no alcanza la altura del cruce.
Se puede observar en la siguiente figura que se crea un salto hidráulico aguas arriba
del culvert, convirtiendo así el flujo en uno supercrítico, y luego del culvert se
observa una caída.
La siguiente figura nos muestra los resultados para la sección 3.5 en el culvert.
Para la sección aguas arriba se puede observar que la profundidad máxima del canal
alcanza unos 2.58m, mientras que la altura del culvert es de 3.05m por lo tanto al
igual que sucedió en el puente la superficie del agua no alcanza la altura del culvert.
Al haber finalizado el modelaje tanto para el puente como para el culvert se obtuvieron
resultados los cuales nos mostraban lo que ocurriría con el canal si se construyera un
puente o un culvert. Para ambas formas de modelaje se encontró que producían una caída
hidráulica en la sección 4 aguas arriba del canal y/o culvert, lo cual produciría un flujo
supercrítico. A causa de esto se forma un salto hidráulico cierta distancia aguas abajo del
puente cuando el flujo vuelve a ser subcritico debido a la pendiente menos empinada. La
altura del puente aguas arriba y del culvert es de 3.05m. Esto es comparado con la altura
critica que produciría la caída hidráulica, para el puente fue de 1.49m y para el culvert fue
de 2.58m según es mostrado por los resultados en las tablas antes presentadas. Para los
dos casos la superficie del agua no alcanza la altura del puente y del culvert. No obstante,
es recomendado el modelaje del puente ya que es el que produce una altura crítica menor
comparado con la altura crítica del culvert y se pueden editar la geometría con más
detalle.
1. Resumen
El propósito de esta parte del informe fue evaluar la posibilidad de realizarle mejoras al
canal. Se evalúa la posibilidad de eliminar el salto hidráulico y se sugieren ciertas
medidas para lidiar con la contracción que lo causa. Además se evalúan varias opciones
de canalización como hormigón o riprap demostrando que la mejor de ambas es la de
hormigón.
2. Antecedentes
Como parte de la solución en las mejoras del tramo de la quebrada de oro, el cual une al
canal trapezoidal revestido de hormigón con el canal natural de tierra. Se requería hacer
una canalización entre las secciones 9 y 6 el tramo de canal en tierra. Para esto se
escogieron 2 tipos de revestimiento, en hormigón y en Riprap.
Además se requería tratar de mejorar las condiciones de flujo entre las secciones 3 y 5
donde comienza el canal en hormigón y termina el puente de mangual. En estas secciones
ocurre una caída hidráulica que provoca un salto hidráulico aguas debajo de puente. Se
requiere determinar si el salto hidráulico es posible eliminarlo.
3. Discusión
- Diseño preliminar.
Se propuso como solución para canalizar este tramo de tierra natural el revestirlo
con un canal de sección trapezoidal de hormigón. Para esta sección utilizamos la
sección óptima hidráulica para asignar algunas de sus dimensiones. La sección
hidráulica óptima es una sección que produce una descarga máxima para un área de
flujo específica. Según la teoría, la sección hidráulica óptima produce el canal más
económico para su construcción. Para nuestro canal propuesta la sección hidráulica
óptima para un trapezoide es el cual tiene un ángulo de las paredes del canal de 60
Dada todas las condiciones obtuvimos una profundidad normal de 1.734 metros, el
cual produce un flujo normal de 50 metros cubico por segundo. A este nivel normal
del agua debemos añadir un “freeboard”, el cual depende de la profundidad normal y
de una constante C, la cual depende del flujo de diseño. El “freeboard” se define
como la distancia vertical desde el nivel del agua normal hasta la ancho de tope del
canal. Para nuestro canal, la constante C fue de 0.65 para así obtener un “freeboard”
de 1.06 metros. Por ende, nuestra profundidad total fue de 2.79 metros, la cual está
por debajo de nuestra profundidad máxima física provista por el canal. Además
obtenemos un ancho de tope de 11.7 metros. Donde su área de flujo es de 16.4
metros cuadrados y un perímetro mojado de 12.5 metros, para sí obtener un radio
hidráulico de la sección de 1.3 metros. En la figura 34, se observar un esquemático
sobre la sección transversal propuesta para el revestimiento del canal natural.
Según los datos de campo sobre nuestro segmento, tenemos que la pendiente de los
lados no puede ser menor de 1.5 metros, ya que esto podría causar inestabilidad en los
taludes, por lo tanto utilizamos una pendiente de los lados de 2.0 metros.
Al calcular el esfuerzo cortante crítico para que inicie el movimiento de las rocas,
con la siguiente ecuación: ; donde es el diámetro de las rocas en pies, obtenemos
un valor de 47.88 pascasles. Luego calculamos el valor de la rugosidad hidráulica de
la ecuación modificada de Strickler, , el cual nos dio
un valor de 0.0317. Asumiendo un fondo de canal de 18 metros y con el flujo pico,
podemos obtener de la ecuación de Manning’s la profundidad normal, la cual fue una
de 1.744metros. Por lo tanto obtenemos un área de flujo de 37.48 metros cuadrados,
con un perímetro mojado de 25.8 metros y un radio hidráulico de 1.45 metros.
Como parte del diseño del revestimiento se calculó el espesor del banco, el cual es
el espesor de las rocas del revestimiento en las paredes del trapezoide, en donde se
obtuvo mediante la siguiente ecuación: ; obtuvimos un valor de 5.25 pulgadas
o 0.13 metros. También se calculo el espesor del dedo, el cual es el espero
Para este canal se calculó también el valor de “Freeboard”, el cual con su valor de
la constante C de 0.65, obtuvimos un “Freeboard” 1.07 metros. Para así obtener una
profundidad total de 2.8 metros. Con la cual obtenemos un ancho de tope de
29.2metros. En la figura 36, podemos observar una sección de nuestro trapezoide
revestido con Riprap.
En esta parte del estudio se compararon los resultados obtenidos de las secciones
obtenidas en la parte anterior contra los resultados en HEC-RAS. Se utilizó la opción
de Channel Modification (original) en las opciones de geometría de HEC-RAS bajo
Tools. En la figura 37, se muestra el panel para seleccionar la opción de modificación
de canal.
Se puede ver de la tabla de resultados del nivel del agua en las secciones aguas
arriba a disminuido alrededor de unos 0.3 metros al igual que la velocidad promedio
por unos 0.4 m/s. Podemos tener una mejor idea del comportamiento si vemos una
vista de perfil comparando ambos análisis. La figura 40, muestra la vista de perfil
comparando ambos resultados.
De la vista en perfil se puede ver que después de la canalización el nivel del agua
es mucho más uniforme en las secciones aguas arriba. Aún se sigue generando el
salto hidráulico ya que solo canalizamos desde la sección 6 a la 9 y no se
consideraron las secciones 3 a la 5 que es donde se genera un estrangulamiento del
flujo, estas se tocaran más adelante. Además se debe señalar que precisamente debido
a esto el nivel del agua es mayor en los cómputos de HEC-RAS ya que en los
cómputos a mano no se consideró la contracción y la baja súbita entre las secciones 3
y 5 lo cual afectan el flujo aguas arriba ya que este es sub crítico. Por último se
pueden observar las diferencias entre las secciones antes de canalizar el tramo y
después (figura 41).
Para esta parte del estudio se trató de realizar una canalización parecida a la de la
parte anterior con una pendiente que conecte uniformemente a la sección 4 para así
evitar una bajada súbita entre las secciones 3 y 5. Se corrió el programa y se encontró
que los resultados fueron bien parecidos a los de la parte anterior con márgenes de
error despreciables. Esto nos deja saber que el salto hidráulico que ocurre en la
quebrada es mayormente a causa de sus áreas inefectivas que crean una contracción
en el flujo y retienen el agua provocando que tenga que aumentar nivel (con su
posible inundación en el área) su energía para poder pasar y por ende aumentando la
velocidad y llegando a estado crítico.
Podemos concluir que, para el canal de sección hidráulica optima, cumple con
parámetros de campo, ya que nuestro ancho de tope máximo que tiene nuestro tramo
natural es de 17 metros. También, cumple con nuestra profundidad máxima del
segmento, la cual es 2.8 metros. Además, cumple con las recomendaciones de que la
velocidad máxima para un canal revestido con hormigón no es mayor a 18 ft/s, el cual
para esta sección fue de 10 ft/s. Lo único que tenemos que modificar seria el ancho del
fondo, ya que para este segmento nuestro ancho máximo es de 8 metros, pero nuestro
ancho de fondo de diseño es muy parecido, por ende no tendremos problemas algunos en
excavar 0.5 metros.
Al comparar la opción de revestir el canal natural con Riprap con los parámetros físicos
de nuestro canal, podemos ver que cumple con la profundidad máxima de nuestro canal,
el cual fue de 2.8 metros. Por otra parte, podemos ver que el ancho del fondo de canal
que cumple para nuestro diseño no cumple con el máximo físico el cual era de 8 metros.
Además, este diseño no cumple con el ancho máximo de tope, ya que sobre pasa los 17
metros por 12.2metros. Por lo tanto, al comparar los requisitos que cumple cada diseño,
observamos que la opción de canalizar el tramo mediante un revestimiento de hormigón
trapezoidal es la más efectiva y apropiada para la geometría de nuestra sección.
Por último, el salto hidráulico que se produce a cause de las condiciones geométricas
entre las secciones 3 y 5 se debe mayormente a la contracción del canal en esta parte del
tramo. Se trató de ajustar la pendiente del tramo pero aún se generan condiciones críticas
en el puente que son causa del salto hidráulico en la quebrada canalizada. Se recomienda
reestructurar este puente o canalizar una transición que provea un movimiento de flujo
sub crítico a través de cauce para así evitar cambios de estado en el flujo.
