 Duties & Responsibilities for Inspector/Inspection engineer:

 Review the previous history of plant equipment, piping, last inspection observation, operating temperature,
pressure, services change if any.
 On-stream inspection prior to the shut down for static equipment such as pressure vessel, heat exchanger,
column, furnace, tanks and process pipe lines.
 Shutdown / Turn Around as open, intermediate and final inspection complemented with NDT examinations for
all fixed equipment / pipelines.
 Retirement thickness, corrosion rate, remaining life calculation for process piping system and advising for any
repair/replacement.

  Development of periodical inspection plan and frequencies.
 Suspected areas to give the special attention for deterioration and prepare the inspection procedures to follow-
up their resolution to improve the plant integrity and safe of operation.
 Review the daily observations and abnormalities provided by the inspectors followed by the reports approved.
 Prepare the IWL / ITP with using the various client recommended software system for the necessary repairs if
any.
 Prepare the shutdown job scope for all static equipment / process pipe lines and provide anticipatory work to
the maintenance team in advance.
 Work tandem with corrosion group for failure and risk assessment analysis.
 Provide periodic detailed reports on critical equipment / pipe lines for the whole inspection team to the
management.
 Co-ordinate with respective unit licenser for plant stabilisation on quarterly basis.
 CUI / Corrosion monitoring of all static equipment as well as process pipe lines.
 Selection of inspection technique based on the observations made during routine inspection with complement of
NDT.
 Recording all inspection observations and recommendation for corrective actions based on findings for
immediate as well as future actions.
 Recommendations of up-gradation of metallurgy in areas adversely affected by corrosion & failures.
 To identify and solve corrosion problems to increase the reliability of Plant & without failure of operation.
 To conduct corrosion / metallurgical failure analysis based on various literatures and recommendations for
corrective actions.
 To recommend corrosion control / preventive measures by selection and application of materials, Paints /
coating, neutralizers / inhibitors.
 Piping Inspection - Inspection of Piping of process units and offsite facilities.
 Stage wise Inspection of welding, repairs & field modifications of process piping / replacements and prepare the
Isometric drawings as per the site.
 Ensure the condition of pipe spring supports, injection quills and thermo wells during the shutdown.
 Ensure the Surface preparation after blasting (abrasive blasting and hydro jetting) and Painting inspection
accordance with the client specification and standards.
 Review repair Packages and ensure all relevant document has been signed off as required
 Having a superior experience & knowledge in defect identification & classify the type of defect to evaluate as per
the codes and standards. Like ASME SEC - V, VIII (Div. 1, 2) & IX, ASME B31.1 & B31.3 and other in service
inspection codes like API-510,570,571,572,574,576,577,578, & 579.
 Good knowledge in Radiography film Interpretation as per ASME Sec-VIII, Div.1, ASME Sec. IX, ASME B31.3. And
other international codes. Also I have good knowledge & safety awareness in fire protection, H2S, Breathing
apparatus and confined space. Review and approve repair procedure such as welding, lining, coating,
replacement monitor over all equipment condition, risk, extend the equipment life
