SCHOOL ORGANISATION AND INSTITUTIONAL PLANNING

OBJECTIVES
1. To acquaint the student teachers with the need and scope of educational administration
and its principles.
2. To acquaint them with the hierarchy in educational administration and the role of
educational authorities in India.
3. To enable them understand the various administrative pattern of schools and the
problems involved.
4. To help them understand the education of exceptional children.
5. To help them understand the rules and regulations in implementing school
programmes.

PRINCIPLES, PROBLEMS AND TRENDS IN EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION (10

1.1 Meaning, nature and scope of educational administration

1.3 Problems of educational administration
1.4 Emerging trends in educational administration
1.5 Policy making, Decision making and evaluation techniques and procedures in
educational administration.

UNIT 2
EDUCATIONAL AUTHORITIES AND THEIR ROLES IN INDIA (10 Hours)
2.1 Hierarchy in Educational Administration and their role in policy making - Ministry of
Human Resource Development, Education Departments, NCTE, NCERT & SCERT.
2.2 Central and state bodies in educational administration.
2.3 Supervision - concept, types and principles, qualities of supervisor.
2.4 Inspection - Types, its difference from supervision.
2.5 Recent development in supervision and inspection.

UNIT - 3
ADMINISTRATION OF SCHOOLS (10 Hours)
3.1 General pattern of internal administration of schools.
3.2 Administrative procedures, problems and differences.
3.3 Institutional planning - Meaning, need and objectives.
3.4 Secondary schools under different managements, centre, state and private agencies.
3.5 Role of pupils, teachers, principal and public in administration.

UNIT - 4
EDUCATIONAL PLANNING (10 Hours)
4.1 Place of education in the five year plans.
4.2 Post-independent educational policies on educational planning.
4.3 Educational planning for exceptional children
4.4 Role of National and State bodies for educational Planning and Administration.
4.5 Economics of Education - Cost, benefits.

UNIT - 5
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (10 Hours)
5.1 Rules and regulation of different levels of educational programmes.
5.2 Rules and regulation of private schools.
5.3 Rules and regulation of special education implementation.
5.4 Qualification norms for various personnel in school programmes.
5.5 Role of communication technology in dissemination of educational information.
