Why Lagna Kundali is Important

Hindu Vedic astrology is very old and is the mother of many astrology techniques used in the
entire world. It has divided the solar system into 9 planets, 27 stars, and 12 signs and calculates
the possibilities of future based on this division only.

Horoscope or Kundali or Janam kundli is the 30 degree division of 360 degrees of entire
universe which gives 12 houses or divisions of 30 degrees in which the signs are placed. In India
a sign is called Rashi, or rasi or Janma rasi where Janma Rashi is nothing but the Rashi or the
sign in which moon was transiting at the time of birth of a native.

Similarly, Sun sign is the sign in which Sun is transiting at the time of the birth of the native.

In Hindu Vedic astrology, Lagna or the Ascendant is considered very important and is given mre
importance than the above mentioned two things, the janma rashi and Sun rashi.

What is Lagna precisely?

In simple words, it is the ascendant rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth of any
individual on the planet. It changes in every two hours approximately and thus is most accurate.

It is the first house of the horoscope and then the other houses are reckoned counter-clockwise.
Two or more people may have the same moon sign but it is not necessary that they will have the
same ascendant and likewise they may have same sun sign and moon sign but the lagna may
differ, the reason being Sun stays in a sign for a month and travels a degree in a day where as
moon stays in a sign for 2 ¼ days but ascendant only two hours.

All the important calculations are done with the reference of the ascendant, if on natal chart then
birth ascendant is considered and if a horary chart is considered or a mundane chart is considered
then the prashna lagna or the lagna rising at the time is considered and moon is taken for
references only.

Many Hindu vedic astrologers consider the janma lagna the Chandra lagna and the Surya lagna
to come to a conclusion and seeing them many western astrologers have started doing the same.

Though, a careful and logical observation from the Chandra lagna is sufficient enough to reach to
a correct prediction and most of the time astrologers use only the Janma Lagna or the birth
ascendant.

If you also want to get your chart examined then it will be best to get it examined from the
Janma Lagna and not the other two ones because of the preciseness if gives.

Many things depends upon the skill of the astrologer also and it is important that you consult an
adept one only.
