averaging 2.266 million barrels per day (mbd). This showed an increase of 1,325,966 barrels or
1.92% over February, 2006. Bonny Light had the highest production figure of 15,559,972 barrels
averaging 501,935 barrels per day (b/d) or 22.15%. Qua-Iboe Light followed with 12,070,281
barrels averaging 389,369 b/d or 17.18% of the total production. Production of Escravos Light,
Bonga, and Brass Blend was 9,729,215 barrels (313,846 b/d); 6,072,520 barrels (195,888 b/d) and
5,544,943 barrels (178,869 b/d) respectively. The total Alternative Funding crude oil production
during the month is 8,881,956 barrels. The table below shows production of crude oil by stream
with corresponding average daily production and percentages in descending order.

condensates were lifted for both export and domestic purposes by both NNPC and Oil Producing
Companies.
3
The Oil Producing Companies, lifted 32,749,489 barrels or 48.72%, while NNPC lifted
34,469,888 barrels or 51.28%. Out of the 32,749,489 barrels lifted for export by the Oil Producing
Companies, the JVCs exported 24,908,963 barrels, PSC/SC companies exported 4,952,551
barrels, while Independent and Sole Risk Company exported 2,887,975 barrels. NNPC liftings
were made up of 20,059,469 barrels, exported on behalf of Federal Government for Federation
Account and 14,410,419 barrels for domestic use distributed as follows:
9 3,172,552 barrels supplied to the local refineries; and
9 11,237,867 barrels exported on behalf of PPMC.
2.3 Alternative Funding Joint Venture Crude Oil Lifting: In March 2006, 9,664,076 barrels of
crude oil were lifted by both NNPC and three (3) Joint Venture Companies, namely: Mobil, Elf
and Chevron. Of this, NNPC lifted 3,447,994 barrels or 35.68%, while the three (3) companies
lifted 6,216,082 barrels or 64.32%. The total lifting of 6,1216,082 barrels was part of total JV
lifting of 32,749,489 barrels, while out of 3,447,994 barrels lifted by NNPC; 2,499,349 barrels
was part of 20,059,469 barrels lifted for export into Federation Accounts and 948,645 barrels was
part of 11,237,867 barrels for PPMC export (see table 4 and table below for more details)

2.4 Crude Oil Export By Destination: In March, 2006, a total of 64,046,825 barrels of crude oil and
Oso Condensates were exported by NNPC and Oil Producing Companies to five (5) major regions
of the world as follows: North America 33,997,120 barrels or 53.08%; Asia and Far East
9,976,594 barrels or 15.58%; Europe 9,026,958 barrels or 14.09%; South America 5,781,810
barrels or 9.03%. The balance of 5,264,343 barrels or 8.22% was exported to some countries in
Africa (see Table 5 and Figure 2),
2.5 Federation Account Crude Oil Export Receipts: A total of 20,059,469 barrels of Crude Oil and
Oso Condensates was exported with a value of US$1,246.902 million by NNPC for Federation
Account during the month under review. The export sales indicate an average weighted price of
US$62.1603 per barrel (see Table 6a and Figure 3a).
3.5 Joint Venture Export Gas Sales: Shell exported a total of 36.499 Billion Standard Cubic Feet
(Bscf) of natural gas as feedstock to NLNG at a total sum of US$28.630 million in March, 2006
(See Table 9b).
4.2 Production Returns: The refineries – KRPC, PHRC and WRPC produced 483,265 mt of
intermediate and finished products as against 549,906 mt evacuated by PPMC. The Drum Plant
in KRPC produced 1,056 lube oil drums and out of this 1,650 drums were evacuated during the
month. The low production of Lube Oil drum was due to stock out of Body Coil.
4.3 Refinery Fuel and Loss: The refineries recorded 52,270mt of products as refinery fuel and loss,
which was 9.28% of the total crude processed. Out of this refinery fuel and loss statistics,
5
43,441mt (7.67%) was used as fuel, while 3,109 mt (0.61%) was flared. The remaining 5,720mt
(1.11%) was recorded as losses (See Table 14).
The Major and Independent Petroleum Products Marketing Companies distributed a total
of 943.28 million litres of different petroleum products in March 2006. This showed an
increase of 127.53 million litres or 15.63% when compared with the total volume
distributed in February 2006 (813.24 million litres). The Major Petroleum Products
Marketing Companies sold 631.82 million litres (66.98% of the total sales) of petroleum
products, while the Independent Petroleum Products Marketing Companies sold the
remaining 311.46 million litres (33.02% of the total sales). In the petroleum products
distribution slate, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) had the highest figure of 648.25 million
litres (68.72% of the total) reflecting average daily sales of 20.91 million litres.
Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) was second with total sales figure of 132.50 million litres
(14.05%) averaging 4.27 million litres per day while Dual Purpose Kerosine (DPK) came
third with total 66.65 million litres (7.07%) giving an average daily sales of 2.15 million
litres. (Tables 15, 16 and 17 refer). This report does not include fuel figures from
Mobil Oil Nigeria PLC as soon as their figures are made available, this report will
be updated accordingly.
