Calendar
Our 2019 calendar of key events in epidemiology contains 142 listings to help Edition
you stay in touch and up to date on the latest developments in the field. An

observation we have made in preparing the 2019 calendar is that the diversity
of events has diminished. Also, the total number of listings is significantly
lower than last year (175 events).

events described as population health or data science gatherings, but only
found two new listings to include. We excluded population health

The Office of the Dean in Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) seeks visionary candidates for the position of Associate
Dean for Research. This faculty position will be full-time with approximately fifty percent dedicated to the Associate Dean role and the
remainder to research and teaching. The Associate Dean staffs the School’s Research Advisory Committee (RAC) and represents the School
on Research committees at the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and University levels. The principal role for the Associate Dean is to
facilitate and enhance the capacity of faculty and advanced trainees to successfully compete for intramural and extramural financial
support and conduct research. The office is a clearinghouse and resource for internal pilot grants, provides grant writing support and works
closely with the Office of Academic Affairs on graduate and post-doctoral training and support. The office assists in identifying
opportunities for cross-departmental and inter-school research collaborations and works closely with the Assistant Dean for Research
Administration on regulatory and reporting issues.

The successful candidate will be a highly respected leader with a strong record of funded research in an area related to public health and
will have the necessary record to be appointed as a faculty member at the level of Professor on the RSPH faculty. We encourage applicants

Tenure Track Faculty Position in Genomic Epidemiology

Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine

The Department of Epidemiology at the Tulane University School of Public Health and
Tropical Medicine and the Tulane University Translational Sciences Institute are
seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in genomic research
of cardiometabolic diseases. The Tulane University Translational Sciences Institute
has been funded by the NIH to provide 50% salary support and substantial research
funds to promising junior faculty investigators. We offer a supportive environment for
faculty to develop their research projects, in cooperation with other research centers
and departments at the Health Sciences Campus.

Qualifications for Assistant Professor candidates include a doctoral degree in

genomic epidemiology or statistical genetics or an MD with genomic epidemiology
training, post-doctoral experience, demonstrated potential to establish independent
research programs, evidence of excellence in teaching, and interest in collaborative
research. Review of applications will begin as soon as possible and applications will
be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled.
