Dear Friend,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I was
reading Psalm 118 the other day, and I found many promises for the believer.
The Bible is full of God's promises! We just have to search them out. Facing a
new year, we sometimes carry over the struggles of the previous year. But we are
given the opportunity to start brand new. We are given a fresh start.
Psalm 118 starts out with giving thanks to God for His mercy, which
endures forever. For every problem, and every stressful situation, the Lord has
come to the rescue of the believer! When we call, He answers! (Psalm 118:5). If
the Lord is on your side we need not fear. Therefore, it is better to trust in the
Lord than to put our confidence in others. Troubles may compass you about, but
in the name of the Lord these things will not grow any bigger because the
Scripture says He will stunt their growth. He will come and deliver you! Those
big issues will be brought down in size so you can handle them, for He is bigger
than any problem!
Psalm 118:14 says, "The Lord is my strength and song, and is become
my salvation." When I come to Him by faith and kneel in prayer, and begin to
feel His presence, strength comes into my heart and mind. He is that strength
that enables me to have courage to face the day! His presence also causes my
heart to rejoice and I find myself singing: even in the midst of trials and testings.
The song writer wrote, "You can have a song in your heart in the night; After
every mile, after every trial. Anyone can sing when the sun is shining bright; But
you can have a song in your heart in the night!" He is our song! The Bible says
He will compass us with songs of deliverance. His name means salvation and
deliverance! The Lord Jesus is my song!
Then the psalmist wrote, "...and is become my salvation." I realize it is
not the blessing I need: it is the Blesser! I don't need the healing as much as I
need the Healer! He is my all in all. He is my provider, my strength, my
deliverance, my healer, my very salvation. The Lord Jesus made a way for me to
get back on the right track in life. He is the right track! He is the way, the truth,
and the life. You see, no one can come to the Father except through the Lord
Jesus. I am just glad He made a way for us to contact Almighty God! Before
Christ came there was no way. Sin kept man from God. But when Jesus died on
the cross for sins and rose again for our justification, he bridged that enormous
gap between man and God. So yes, Jesus is become my salvation. He is the
bridge over troubled waters. He is the miracle worker. And He still creates
miracles today! He is valiant. He is courageous. He has all authority in heaven
and earth. What He says is how it will go. His is the first Word in any situation
and His word is the last Word. You can trust Him to bring you through any and
all situations.
Psalm 118:17 says, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of
the Lord." Everything is going to be alright. You will come through and be able
to declare what great things the Lord has done for you! When the Lord becomes
your life, you will never be left in the dark valley alone. He is the Lily of the
Valley. He is the Bright and Morning Star! Yes, He cares for you. If a sparrow
cannot fall to the ground without our heavenly Father knowing of it, how much
more important are you? You will not die, but live!
Psalm 118:21 says, "I will praise Thee: for Thou hast heard me, and art
become my salvation." He hears your prayers, so you can rest at ease, knowing
He controls your future. The only thing we need to worry about is to praise Him
every day. You can do that! You can praise Him and thank Him. He comes to
those who call on Him, and He draws near to those who draw near to Him.
Then this psalm is revealed to be a prophesy of the Lord Jesus, for the rest
of this psalm was fulfilled in Christ as He hung on the cross in our place. He
took our sins and the weight of our guilt and shame. He tasted death for every
man and every woman, so we may be liberated to become the sons and
daughters of God! No wonder His name is blessed forever! At the end of the
trial, we will say, as the psalmist did so many years ago, "This is the Lord's
doing; it is marvelous in our eyes."
From everyone at our church, we wish you a very happy and healthy New
Year! I invite you to our church services. Our schedule of services is Sunday at
10 AM and 7 PM, and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. May God bless you always!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
