Learning Objectives

At the end of the 60-minute lesson, 75% of the students should be able to:

A. Define chemical reactions

B. Identify evidences of a chemical reaction, and

C. Write the chemical equation for a reaction

II. Learning Content

A. Topic: Chemical Reactions

B. References: Science 10 Learners Material pp. 403-410

C. Materials: Cartolina, Pictures, illustration boards

D. Science Concepts:

*Chemical reaction is a process in which a substance is changed into one or more new substance/s

*Chemical equation is an equation that uses chemical symbols and formulas to represent a chemical
reaction

*Reactant is the substance entering a chemical reaction

*Product is the resulting substance after a chemical reaction

E. Values Integration: Unity

F. Science Process Skills: Analyzing

III. Lesson Procedures

A. Pre-Developmental Activity

1. Opening Prayer

2. Checking of Attendance

3. Passing of Assignments

4. Recall of the previous lesson

5. Motivation

"Jeopardy"
The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group is tasked to choose a question from the 4 cstegories at
different values ragnging from 100$ - 500$.the higher the value the harder the question. Groups will take
turn alternately. The group with the most money at the end of the game wins.

B. Developmental Activity

Keep the groupings as it is and let them conduct an experiment different per group and to answer the
guide questions given. They have 5mins. to do the experiment and answer the guide questions.

After they have conducted an experiment each group will have a representative to be the speaker of the
group to report in front the results of their experiment. Asking for clarifications from students are
allowed.

Give synthesis and clarification of terms. Enumerate the changes in a chemical reaction that may occur.

Show how to write a chemical equation on the board. Showing the reactant and product.

C. Post-Developmental Activity

1. Generalization

Match cards which represents as reactants to match with the proper product card.

2. Application

Write the chemical equation for these examples.

*Magnesium combines with Oxygen gas to produce Magnesium Oxide.

Mg + O2 = MgO

*Hydrochloride reacts with Sodium Hydroxide to produce Sodium Chloride and Water.

HCl + NaOH = NaCl + H2

*Methane reactd with oxygen gas to produce Carbon dioxide and water vapor.

CH4 + O2 = CO2 + H2O

*Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen gas.

H2O2 = H2O + O2

*Iron reacts with cooper sulfate and forms iron (II) Sulfate and copper

Fe + CuSO4 = FeSO4 + Cu
