Glossary:

 Layers- one thickness, coating of one or more substances lying upon or under one or more
substances.

 Crust- topmost layer of the earth covered with rocks and soil, which consist of various
minerals.

 Mantle- is the thickest layer of the earth made mostly of very hot rocks consisting silica,
oxygen, magnesium, iron and aluminum.

 Inner Core- a solid, consist of solid iron and nickel.

 Outer Core- behaves like liquid, consist of molten iron and nickel.

 Moho- separates the crust and the mantle.

 Continents- large masses of land comprise about one-fourth of the surface.

 Atmosphere- a blanket of air surrounding Earth that contains several gases such as nitrogen,
oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide and other gases in smaller

REFERENCECARD
 Core- is the hottest part of the earth that consists of iron and nickel.

 Magma- hot liquid rock beneath the earth’s surface.

 Earthquake- trembling or shaking of the earth’s surface resulting from the movement of the
rocks along the fault.

 Oceans- vast body of salt water that covers almost three-fourth of the earth’s surface
