WATER POWERED DOSING TECHNOLOGY
DOSATRON
(4 FONCTIONS IN ONE TECHNOLOGY)
1. A flow meter (hydraulic motor)
2. An Injector (double effect dosing piston)
3. An homogenizer (mixing chamber)
4. A pressure regulation (Stable dosage from 0.3 to 6 bar)

THE HYDRAULIC MOTOR

Hydraulic
piston The Motor piston moves thanks to the water pressure. A
system of valves allows the movement to be reversed. Each
piston cycle corresponds to a fixed volume of water flowing
Water + through the pump (motor volume). The motor speed will
Water Additive increase proportionally to the water flowing through the
Dosatron.
The dosing pump is VOLUMETRIC.
Mixing
chamber
THE DOSING PART
Dosing
piston The Dosing piston driven by the motor continuously injects a
fixed volume of chemical (doser body volume). For each
volume of water flowing through the motor (1 cycle), the dosing
Dosage
piston will inject the corresponding volume of chemical.
adjustment
Consequently this operating principle guarantees a constant
dosage, independent of water flow or pressure variations.
.

THE ADDITIVE INJECTION IS PROPORTIONNAL TO THE WATER FLOW

WORKING FREQUENCY
Dosing System Injection Frequency
(Frequency tested at same injection rate and same water flow)

Water powered proportional dosing pump

0,5 to 2% - 10 to 2500 l/h – 0.3 to 6 bars

0.5 Hertz

Electro-magnetic pump + Water meter (C class)

0,5 to 2% - 6 to 900 l/h - 0 to 3 bars

3 Hertz

A high working frequency generally reduces dosing precision (Cavitation /

Viscosity) and moving parts life (mechanical wearing).
Electric pumps can sometimes improve homogeneity by reducing time between 2
injections thus increasing frequency and reducing maximum water flow.
PULSING EFFECTS
ON WATER SYSTEMS
Pressure effect on water systems
At low flow (30 l/h) & high dosage (10%)

Bar

Volume of water going through the dosing system (cm3)

Electro-mechanic pump :
When the injection rate is high compared to the water flow an
over pressure can be generated into the water system (0 to 8 bars):
. Modifying water flow
. Leading to under dosing as such situation requires a pressure releasing
valve (adjusted at 8 bar) going back to the main chemical tank .
. Changing droplets size and angle on low pressure spraying systems.

MAXIMUM VISCOSITY OF ADDITIVES
Viscosity of additives
(Limit due to injection frequency, suction pipe length & diameter, temperature)

Large injection diameter of suction pipe may be

required for : polymers, silicones, viscous oils, etc.
SELF PRIMING

MAXIMUM PRIMING HEIGHT
Self-priming & maximum priming height
(depends also on additive density / viscosity , dosing % and pump frequency)

offgasing chemicals)

Deterioration risk if working under « dry conditions »

• Under dosing due to volume
