The Electoral College is a body of people representing the states of the US, who formally cast votes for the election of the president and vice president. Some people want to keep this system and some want to abolish it. The Electoral College has his Pros and Cons. I think that the Electoral College should be abolished. I think that it is very unfair to the larger states. One reason why Electoral college should be abolished is because the bigger states are at a disadvantage. The smaller states are getting more votes than they should receive. But where do those votes come from? Easy, The bigger states. There are more people in the big states, which is why we deserve more votes. The smaller states have a smaller population, therefore they should have less votes. In a video they said, “Most big states get less electors than they are supposed to. Small states get more electoral votes than they deserve.” This shows how the smaller states are getting more attention that they are supposed to. This is one reason why the Electoral College is unfair and should be abolished. Another reason why the Electoral college should be abolished is because it is an old system. The Electoral College is really old and complicated. Some people say it is confusing. (which it is). The Electoral College is basically an unfair way for states to vote. Each state gets a certain amount of electors and now the bigger states get less electors and the smaller states get more. In Document G it shows a political cartoon. On one side there is an antique shop. On the other side it shows a junkyard. In the middle is a guy holding a machine which is the electoral college. The machine looks very complicated and confusing, which it is. The guy is thinking whether to put it in the junk pile or in the antique shop. This a is another reason to show why the Electoral College should be abolished. Others may say that the Electoral College should not be abolished. Without the Electoral College, elections would require recounts in every state which delays the final results for months or longer. But, I think that if we abolish the Electoral College it will be fair for the country and the bigger states. In final analysis the Electoral College should be abolished. It is old and complicated. It is unfair to the bigger states. Which is why i think we should abolish it. The Electoral College is an old way of voting and we should find another one.
