Thermal Engineering is my life and I am determined to focus my effort for finding the best
solution to problems associated with energy and its storage using engineering. My goal is to give
substantial contribution in the field of Renewable Energy Research. With a PhD degree from the
KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden I will be able to pursue my dream of being a
valuable researcher who is working in the area of Thermal Storage Systems. I really got
motivated by some of the journals related to Energy storage technics and its applications in solar
energy storage. I strongly believe that the knowledge that I will acquire from KTH Royal
Institute of Technology, Sweden will help me to find an efficient method to store solar energy,
so that it can open a new path of hope to the world energy crisis.
A combination of excellent strategy and love for Mathematics and Physics enabled me to gain
admission to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of
Technology, India. During my coursework, subjects like Heat transfer, Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning, Internal Combustion Engines and Fluid Mechanics caught my interest. In my
senior year, I undertook a project on the design and analysis of Pollution free sulphur handling
system at THE FERTILISERS AND CHEMICALS TRAVANCORE LIMITED (FACT LTD)
Cochin, Kerala to reduce the sulphur spillage.
I was determined to specialize in Thermal Energy Storage Systems (Phase Change Materials) as
I was inspired by some of the most eminent professors in the field. I chose to undertake a project
on the Comparison of Thermal Property Analysis of Nano Enhanced Myristic acid and
Paraffin Wax as Phase Change Materials. The comparison of enhancement in thermal
properties of Myristic Acid and Paraffin Wax PCMs by the addition of different compositions of
Cu, Al and graphite nano particle was conducted in self-designed experimental set up. The aim
of the research was to introduce a new Phase change Material instead of Paraffin Wax as it is
commonly used and having comparatively low enthalpy of fusion. For the project I have
designed an economical experimental set up to analyse the enhancement in thermal properties of
PCMs by the addition of nano particles.
Immediately after masters study I had joined College of Engineering and Management Punnapra,
India as Asst. Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. During that period I was a
part of a project that focused on the analysis of heat exchanger effectiveness enhancement using
wire mesh. At present I am working in the department of Mechanical Engineering of TocH
Institute of Science and Technology as Asst. Professor.
To me, a PhD degree from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden will polish and
sharpen my research skills and will ensure a firm backing of my research skills for any job that I
may apply to. I am confident that my present teaching experience as an Assistant Professor will
enable me to contribute as a Teaching/Research Assistant in the department. I hope the
admissions committee favorably considers my application.
