INSTALLATION: Install the valve with the solenoid in an upright position in a horizontal pipe line (operating handle
horizontal). Allow sufficient headroom to remove the solenoid enclosure. Do not loosen the valve body-bonnet bolts, unless
absolutely necessary to re-orient the valve body with respect to the operating handle assembly. When re-tightening, care must
be taken to tighten the bolts gradually and evenly, to maintain alignment of the inner parts. Check to be sure that all bolts are
equally and fully tightened.

PIPE CONNECTION: Connect the inlet so as to have the pressure on top of the valve seat (follow arrow or markings on
the valve body). Make sure the pipe line is clean, free from dirt, metal chips, slag, etc., before connecting the valve to the line,
to prevent damage to the valve seat or clogging of the valve. Do not strain the valve body or use the solenoid or handle
assembly for leverage when connecting pipes.

FLANGED (NPT) CONNECTIONS – Use the proper flange gasket material. Tighten the bolts gradually and evenly, so
as not to strain the valve body. Check to be sure that all bolts are equally and fully tightened.

SCREWED (ANSI) CONNECTIONS – Use the proper paste or liquid type sealer. Do not use tape sealers, as this
material shreds and gets into the valve. Do not seal weld or braze threaded pipe connections at the valve body, as
this may distort the seat and cause leakage.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS: Connect the solenoid directly across the line through the control switch. Use a proper
external box (general purpose, watertight or explosion-proof, as applicable), for making connections. Do not remove sleeving
from the solenoid coil leads when making connections, as this protects the leads from damage inside the solenoid enclosure. It
is normal for the solenoid housing to become hot to the touch when continuously energized. All enclosures have ½” NPT
conduit connection. RECOMMENDED MAX. AMBIENT TEMP.: 120° C (Cl. H Insulation)

OPERATION:

NORMALLY OPEN – The valve is closed manually, and is held closed by means of a portative magnet type solenoid.
It is held closed by means of the continuously energized solenoid until current fails, when it trips to the fail-safe, open
position. The valve will not re-close until it is again manually reset, even though current is restored.

NORMALLY CLOSED – The valve is opened manually, and is held open by means of a portative magnet type
solenoid. It is held open by means of the continuously energized solenoid until current fails, when it trips to the fail-
safe, closed position. The valve will not re-open until it is again manually reset, even though current is restored.

Note: In case of an Emergency, the valve may be opened manually by pulling extremely hard on the lever, thereby
overcoming the magnetic holding force.

MAINTENANCE: Valve should be kept relatively clean and free from accumulations of foreign matter such as dirt, salt,
insulation dust, coal dust, etc. Do not paint any moving parts, especially the magnetic mating surfaces of the solenoid and
lever. After any general overhaul or cleaning, apply a coating of “Never-Seez”, or equal, anti-seize compound to all internal
moving parts.

Laurence Explosion Proof Solenoid are Factory Mutual System Approved for use in hazardous locations, indoors and outdoors,
specified in the National Electrical Code as: Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C or D. These locations contain vapors of
inflammable materials, such as acetone, acetylene, ammonia, benzene, ethylene, ether, gasoline, hydrogen, naptha, natural
gas, propane, and other chemicals.

**CAUTION**
To prevent ignition of hazardous atmospheres, this solenoid should not be installed in an area where vapors or gases have an
ignition temperature less than the temperature range stated on the solenoid label. Note: The rated temperature is based on a
25C ambient temperature, therefore, corrections should be made for applications in higher ambient temperature locations.

FOR ALTERNATING VOLTAGE FOR DIRECT VOLTAGE

Solenoid coil must be connected to voltage source through rigid conduit. Conduit must be of an approved type with at least five
full threads engaged in the solenoid conduit connection. Approved seal fitting must be used directly at the conduit entrance to
the solenoid.

Electrical supply line to solenoid should be fused at (above amps), “Fusetron” type. Select wire size appropriate to fuse rating,
but not less than #18 AWG. Green colored wire is for protective grounding.

Solenoid cover need not be removed during installation, except for versions provided with terminal block for making electrical
connections within the solenoid enclosure. It must be tight during operation to insure correct flame path. The solenoid cover
has been factory sealed with a bolt torque of 10 ft. lbs.

INSTALLATION: Install the valve with the solenoid in an upright position in a horizontal pipe line. Allow sufficient
headroom to remove the solenoid enclosure. Do not loosen the valve body-bonnet bolts, unless absolutely necessary to re-
orient the valve body with respect to the solenoid top works. When re-tightening, care must be taken to tighten the bolts
gradually and evenly, to maintain alignment of the inner parts. Check to be sure that all bolts are equally and fully tightened.

PIPE CONNECTION: Connect the inlet so as to have the pressure on top of valve seat, (follow arrow or markings on the
valve body). Make sure pipe line is clean, free from dirt, metal chips, slag, etc., before connecting the valve to the line, to
prevent damage to the valve seat or clogging of the valve. Do not strain the valve body or use the solenoid for leverage when
connecting pipes.
Do not seal weld or braze threaded pipe connections at the valve body, as this may
distort the seat and cause leakage.

external box (watertight or explosion-proof, as applicable), for making connections. Do not remove sleeving from the solenoid
coil leads when making connections, as this protects the leads from damage inside the solenoid enclosure. Valve is equipped
with coil rated for continuous, 24 hour energization. It is normal for the solenoid housing to become hot to the touch when
continuously energized. All enclosures have ½” NPT connection.

Control switch contacts should be sized accordingly, and electrical wire size should be adequate to avoid excessive voltage drop
when the valve operates. Full inrush current at rated voltage must be delivered to the valve to insure that it closes against the
rated pressure. RECOMMENDED MAX. AMB. TEMP.: 120°C – Cl. H Insulation

OPERATION: The valve is reset manually, and will latch-in only if the solenoid is de-energized (current off). It is held
latched-in mechanically until the solenoid is energized, when it “trips” to the fail-safe (“Normal”) position. The valve will not re-
cycle until it is again manually reset, even if current fails and is again restored.
Note: DO NOT attempt to manually “Trip” the latched-in valve by pulling on the operating lever as damage to the latching
mechanism may result.
Normally closed, Latch to open. Valve is closed in the “unlatched”, or tripped position. Opens when the handle is lifted to
latch-in. The valve fails closed, upon tripping the latch, or releasing the handle.
Normally open, Latch to close. Valve is open in the “unlatched”, or tripped position. Closes when the handle is lifted to latch-
in. The valve fails open, upon tripping the latch, or releasing the handle.

***Occasionally apply “Never-Seez”, or equal anti-seize compound to the latch engaging pin and latch.

INSTALLATION: Install the valve with the solenoid in an upright position in a horizontal pipe line (operating handle
horizontal). Allow sufficient headroom to remove the solenoid. Do not loosen the valve body-bonnet bolts, unless absolutely
necessary to re-orient the valve body with respect to the operating handle assembly. When re-tightening, care must be taken to
tighten the bolts gradually and evenly, to maintain alignment of the inner parts. Check to be sure that all bolts are equally and
fully tightened.

PIPE CONNECTION: Make sure the pipe lines are clean, free from dirt, metal chips, slag, etc., before connecting the
valve to the line, to prevent damage to the valve seat or clogging of the valve. Do not strain the valve body or use the solenoid
for leverage when screwing in pipes. Use the proper paste or liquid type pipe sealer. Do not use tape sealer, as this material
shreds and gets into the valve. Do not seal weld or braze threaded pipe connections at the valve body, as this may distort the
seat and cause leakage.

Flow Form “M” – Connect: Inlet @ “A”, Outlet @ “B”, Vent @ “C”.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS: Connect solenoid directly across the line through the control switch. Use a proper
external box (general purpose, watertight, explosion-proof, etc., as applicable), for making connections. Do not remove
sleeving from the solenoid coil leads when making connections, as this protects the leads from damage. Valve is equipped with
coil rated for continuous, 24 hour energization. It is normal for the solenoid housing to become hot to the touch when
continuously energized. All enclosures have ½” NPT conduit connection. Solenoid enclosure is rated: NEMA 4 – Watertight.
Recommended Max. Amb. Temp.: 120°C, Class H Insulation.

OPERATION: The valve is reset manually and is held in this position by means of a portative magnet type solenoid. It will
remain in this position as long as the solenoid is continuously energized. If current to the solenoid is interrupted, the valve “trips”
to the fail-safe (Normal) position. The valve will stay in this position until it is again manually reset, even though current is
restored.

Note: In case of an emergency, the valve may be “tripped” manually by pulling extremely hard on the lever, thereby overcoming
the magnetic holding force.

MAINTENANCE: The valve should be kept relatively clean and free from accumulations of foreign matter such as dirt, salt,
insulation dust, coal dust, etc. Do not paint any moving parts, especially the magnetic mating surfaces of the solenoid plunger
and stub core or pole piece. After any general overhaul or cleaning, apply a coating of Never-Seez, or equal, anti-seize
compound to all internal moving parts, and any external sliding or rolling surfaces.

The solenoid cover
has been factory sealed with a bolt torque of 10 ft. lbs.

INSTALLATION: Install the valve with the solenoid in an upright position in a horizontal pip line (operating handle
horizontal).

PIPE CONNECTION: Connect inlet at connection marked “B”, normally closed Outlet at “A” and normally open Outlet at
“C”. (“Normally” refers to the de-energized or “tripped” position of the valve.) Make sure the pipe lines are clean, free from dirt,
metal chips, slag, etc., before connecting the valve to the line, to prevent damage to the valve seat or clogging of the valve. Do
not strain the valve body or use the solenoid for leverage when screwing in pipes. Use the proper paste or liquid type pipe
sealer. Do not use tape sealers, as this material shreds and gets into the valve. Do not seal weld or braze threaded pipe
connections at the valve body, as this may distort the seat and cause leakage.

Amb. Temp.: 120° C, Class H Insulation.

OPERATION: The valve is opened manually for flow from port “B” to “A” and is held in this position by means of a portative
magnet type solenoid. It will remain in this position as long as the solenoid is continuously energized. If current to the solenoid
is interrupted, the valve “trips” to the fail-safe position, where port “A” is closed and flow is diverted to port “C”. The valve will
stay in this position until it is again manually reset, even though current is restored.
