Introduction

This document describes the installation procedure, uninstallation procedure and the
features of the e-STUDIO Plug-in for OpenView Network Node Manager (OpenView NNM
hereafter) module. This module extends the ability of OpenView NNM to manage
e-STUDIO devices.

The plug-in extends OpenView NNM in the following five areas:

z Automatic Discovery
Automatically discovers e-STUDIO devices on your network and displays a TOSHIBA
icon on the IPMap.
z IPMap icon alert
The TOSHIBA icon displayed on the IPMap will change colors when the device is
having problems. Detailed device information is acquired using the TOSHIBA private
MIB and carefully weighted to warn the administrator only when the device is in real
trouble.
z Sub icons
The IPMap icons can be double clicked to display the category of the problem.
The administrator can see if it is a service call problem, consumable problem or a job
queue problem, without leaving OpenView NNM. The status will be periodically
updated.
z Jump to TopAccess
With a single click, OpenView NNM will launch the web browser and open the
TopAccess page, where the administrator can see more detailed information.
z Actual event message
Event messages are displayed in actual event names in the Event Browser.

These features will allow the administrator to quickly find a problem, run the initial diagnosis
from his/her desktop and understand the problem before he/she goes to the device. Which
will result in shorter down time.

This document assumes that you have a working knowledge and familiarity with OpenView
NNM. This document will only describe items related to the plug-in. Please see your

the IPMap.

should change to yellow to ask for administrator attention.
Below are examples of when the device icon changes to yellow.

12
Service call *1
Toner out (Pirate Toner Detected)
More than 15 jobs in queue
Paper related errors (Paper Jam, Paper out, Output bin full) do not change the icon color

service call occurs. However, this will change the entire OpenView NNM settings.
