Why Chicago? Until the 1970s, the United States was not a major country of destination for Indian immigrants. However, Indians began to come to the United States to get a good education and to become skilled workers. Chicago is a big city, with many schools, and even more job opportunities which allowed for the Indian population to continue growing.
