To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter to support Lauren Marple’s scholarship application to the College
of Education at Towson University. Ms. Marple was enrolled in my course entitled, Early
Literacy: Best Practices and Materials (ECED 360), during the fall 2016 semester.
While attending my course, Ms. Marple demonstrated passion for improving outcomes
for young children and their families, understanding of course content, and exceeded
expectations on assignments. She successfully demonstrated her skills and knowledge related to
the course objectives orally, in writing, and through demonstration. Ms. Marple also exhibited
leadership skills by leading group discussions with peers in class and through active participation
in each course session. Ms. Marple consistently displayed professionalism by attending class on
time each week, submitting all assignments on or before the due date, and by communicating
respectfully with myself and her peers.
Taken together, Lauren’s achievement, professionalism, and commitment to the field
suggest that she will become an effective early childhood special educator upon completion of
her program at Towson University. Thank you for considering Lauren Marple’s scholarship
application. If you need more information, please contact me at shooks@towson.edu.

Sincerely,
