I. INTRODUCTION

Glot Towak Elementary School is located at the center of Brgy. Towak also known as
“Biernesan”. Almost 306 out of 409 pupils belong to Indigenous People’s group B’laan while the
remaining 103 are non-IP’s. 4 out of 14 teachers also live in the said community. The name of the
school was derived from B’laan word which means “true spring”. The name Glot Towak was given
by a local tribal teacher and donor of the school site, Sartiga Pin Kinoc, who was also a consultant for
B’laan tribe in Davao del Sur during that time. The school was established in 1990 through its pioneer
teachers Mr. Rodrigo and Mrs. Virginia Mahimulta. It offered a complete elementary education in
School Year 1996-1997. It has a total area of 15, 965 sq. m. and is 10 km. from Barangay Poblacion.
Barangay Towak is surrounded with Bulatukan and Mal Rivers and the locals earn their living
through farming. Aside from indigenous groups, other tribes and Cebuanos also live in the
community where mixed culture and beliefs are respected.
