Unit Scan setting:
This allows setting a range to the address number the Software scans
during use. The value set by default is 64 (maximum configurable value
on the inverters), therefore the software scans the RS485 bus comple-
tely.

E.g.: in the case where the

communication line consists of 5
inverters that have been assigned
(from the display) the addresses 2,
3, 4, 5, 6, the value “6” may be set
in this section so as to limit the time
required for scanning.

The maximum scan address that has been set is displayed in the infor-
mation bar (on the lower left):

Aurora 232-485 converter settings:

This allows correct configuration of the PVI-RS232_485 converter for
communication.

Search for the converter using the

“Search” button, then configure the
Baud-Rate. Once the values are set,
confirm using the “Configure” button

This menu MUST NOT be used if the PVI-USB-RS485_232 converter is being used.

“Program” menu
Updates the inverter firmware.

The update of the inverter firmware might be necessary to improve its performance
or add new functions. In order to update your firmware you need the Firmware pack,
available for download from https://registration.power-one.it/ or upon request to Po-
wer-One Service. The pack is released as a .tib file, to be directly used through Aurora
Manager LITE according to the instructions below.

The Program menu consists of one submenu:

First, set the values in the “Communication Setup” field:

Aurora 232-485: if the converter model

in use is PVI-RS485_232.
Not configurable: if the converter
model in use is PVI-USB-RS485_232.
The Use single address function
allows you to select a single inverter
(address) during the RS485 bus scan
(as described in the next steps)

Then, use the “SEARCH RS485 LINE” button to scan the RS485 bus
and detect the connected inverters

When the scan process ends, select the inverters that need the Firmwa-
re update (by default, all the inverters detected by the scan are selected).
If multiple inverters are selected, Aurora Manager LITE will program the
selected units sequentially.

Select the file containing the new Firmware to be installed by pressing

the “Select/Change Update Files” button. Once the new Firmware is
successfully loaded, Aurora Manager will display the following window:

Finally, confirm the Firmware update by pressing the “START UPDATE”

button.

The Firmware update process is carried out sequentially on all inverters that need it, ba-
sed on the update settings you have selected and the Firmware contained in the .tib file.
The whole reprogramming process takes about 15 minutes.

At the end of the programming phase, the following dialog box is displayed.

At the end of the programming phase, a report on the reprogramming results is au-
tomatically generated and stored in C:\Program Files\Power-One\Aurora Manager\
FW_update_reports.

The Configuration menu consists of two submenus:

Assign RS485 address:

This feature is very useful when you have a high number of inverters
chain-connected to RS485 as it allows you to automatically assign the
RS485 address without interacting with the display of each inverter in
the system.

When you click “UNIT SEARCH”, the system starts searching for the
units and creates a table containing the inverter S/N, the current RS485
address and the new RS485 address to be assigned.

In the “New ADDR” field, set a unique RS485 address for each inverter,
then click “ASSIGN ADDRESS”. The addresses are assigned to the in-
verters in the system.
