Sustainable Transportation Act

Personal reaction:
As a civil engineering student, this act that promotes sustainable and alternative way of
transportation is really a big help in improving air quality, increase efficiency and positive impact on
environment and of course it will decrease the traffic congestion in some of the main roads here in
manila. It will help me and other students as well as the society by contributing to the reducing of
pollution so that the next generation can have a clean and non-polluted air. It will also help in improving
the physical health of individuals because walking as an alternative transportation is also a good
exercise. It will also decrease the consumption of industrial oil so that the next generation will still have
oil for industrial uses.

Significant of the study:

This act promoting the sustainable transportation will be significant to the general welfare and
social justice on the national development. It will be significant to the Filipino people by protecting and
advancing their rights on a healthful and balance ecology. It will also be significant to the nation
developing its patrimony. It will benefit the society and economy by promoting a safe, efficient and non-
congestive way of transportation. This act will also improve the infrastructure in terms of alternative
mobility in order to promulgate this act. It will be a big help in reducing the air and overall pollution.

Problem:

 The increasing air pollution

 The traffic congestion
 The increasing cost of transportation

Objective:

 To promote the use of alternative mobility to reduce the air pollution

 To promote the use of alternative way of transportation to reduce traffic congestion
 To reduce the use of motorized transport and increase the efficiency of transportation.

Courses of consideration:

 Air pollution in urban area becomes more and more increased.

 Travelling time in major cities of manila wastes time of people because of congestion.
 Frequent oil and fuel price hike.

Recommendation:

 LGU shall maintain the adequate sidewalks for the safe walkways of the pedestrians.
 DOTr and DPWH shall maintain the use of bike lanes and improve public bike parking.
 DOTr shall provide guidelines for the promotion of sustainable transportation.

Conclusion:
I conclude that this act, promoting the use of sustainable alternative transportation and other
mobility to increase the efficiency, air quality and reduce traffic congestion will promote the use of non-
motorized and other alternative way of transportation to increase the quality of air and minimize the
pollution for the betterment of the next generation, it will also reduce the traffic congestion especially in
the main roads and highways here in manila because of the shift of transportation mode. And it will
increase the efficiency of transportation because it will promote the use of non-motorized vehicle,
therefore it will decrease the use of expensive industrial fuels and oils.
