Mathematical or arithmetical error is just that. It does not take into consideration the correctness_of the deductions made by the professor. If the sum total of the deductions found in the Bluebook is only 10, it is mathematical etror to deduct 15 or, for that matter, only 5. (If {make the mistake of giving you more, keep It) Manifest oversight does not seem to be well understood and it is confused with mathematical error. The professor's mistake must be “manifest” that Is, clear and beyond doubt. The manifest error consists of a clear oversight, that is, the professor did not see what was clearly in the Bluebook. What do | look for in your answers? In answering questions asking about validity or invalidity, it is not enough to say “Yes, valid,” or “No, invalid.” Even if your yes or no is correct, to get full credit you must justify your answer with constitutional reasons based on either jurisprudence or specific provisions of the Constitution.
