Learning Goals - by the end of this activity, students will be expected to:
• Demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of basic editing techniques
• Apply a variety of editing tools within the editing project file
• Effective organize and manage their editing assets in bins and on tracks in the timeline
• Work independently to make “editing decisions” to create a video item that has a natural flow and effectively communicates ideas/information/message

Assignment Objective: Students will work independently to edit their group production item using their group’s video footage. Students are expected to follow all assignment criteria as outlined.
In addition, students will employ proper editing processes and techniques as taught in class and described in the rubric criteria.

Workflow Know

Projects “Bins” have been created and named effectively to keep project assets organized
“Sequence” is organized; track names
All audio and video clips are organized on the appropriate tracks

Audio Levels App

Audio levels are effectively set to consistent levels as required:


Dialogue/Voice peaks between -3 and -6dB
Music adjusted to compliment not compete with dialogue
Music fades start and end of project
Audio transition applied for graphic transition in and out

Green Screen Effects Know

Effects are properly applied to clips to ensure clean “key” (cut out) - no pixel remnants
Key is clean around subject on all clips
Background has transitions to smooth out lopping effect where appropriate

Titles & Graphics (GFX) Think

Title creatively summarizes the topic (choice of words)


Font choice is easily legible (Style and Scale)
Titles and graphics follow “Safe Overlays"

Graphic Animates App

Min. 3 Graphic elements


All elements animate in some way
Min. 1 element uses keyframe to animate
GFX elements flow well together - timing of elements overlap to create a visual impression of 1 animated title

Levels: 1 = criteria not met; 2 = criteria partially met; 3 = criteria met; 4 = exceeds expectations.
