Kingdom centre Seasons

The kingdom centre was constructed in 2001, in the
capital city of Saudi Arabia known as Riyadh. This 300
metre high building contains a car park large enough to
hold 3,200 cars. When on the top floor it allows you to
gaze over the city of Riyadh.
In Saudi Arabia the seasons are quite different to most
countries. The cold, rainy season is winter, the sand-
storm season is spring, the hot season is summer and
the mild, clear season is autumn.

AI Rajhi Tower

The AI Rajhi Tower is 350 metre tall with a 2 sto-

rey underground parking area. The tower is in Ri-
yadh same as the kingdom centre. The tower was
built on behalf of the Al Rajhi family and is cur-
rently being used for multiple purposes.

Temperature
The average summer temperature is about 45° C, but
getting up to 54° C is not unusual. The heat becomes
intense shortly after sunrise and lasts until sunset,
followed by surprisingly cool nights.

Location
Saudi Arabia is a desert country located in the middle
east. It is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north,
Kuwait to the north east along with Qatar, Bahrain and
the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the
south east leaving Yemen to the south. Most people
believe that Saudi Arabia is an African country but real-
ly it’s an Asian country that is just separated from
Egypt and Sudan by the gulf of Aden.
Size & population
Saudi Arabia is the 5th largest Asian country reaching
2 149 690Km2. Living inside of this area is 33 760 328
people with 55.2% being male and 44.8% being female.
Centred
About 1,500 years ago, Saudi Arabia became one of
the most important places in the Islamic world when a
teacher of Islam, named Muhammad began teaching
his messages to the city of Mecca. He controlled the
entire Peninsula , and the entire country began to
practice Islam. After Muhammad passed away, no oth-
er person was able to take control, so Mecca was no
longer considered to be the centre of Islam.
King
Many years later, in the 1700s, a group of people
known as the Saudis led the Wahhabi, which focused
on bringing traditional Islam back to the Arabian Pen-
insula. After many years, a man named Ibn Saud be-
came the first king of Saudi Arabia when it became an
official country in 1932.
Traditions
The culture of Saudi Arabia is defined by its heritage,
its historical role as an ancient trade centre, and its
traditions. The Saudi society has evolved over the
years, their values and traditions from customs, hospi-
tality to their style of dressing and it’s adapting with
the modern world.
Language
Arabic is one of the oldest groups of languages in the
world. The inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula were
the first to use the language in early times. With the
expansion of Islam and Islamic culture in the 7th centu-
ry AD, the Arabic language spread north, east and
west. The Arabic language is today one of the world’s
most widely spoken languages.
