To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing a letter of recommendation for Mr. Ethan Krogman who has applied for a teaching position at
your institution. I have known Mr. Krogman since he enrolled in my Themes in World History course in
January 2016. He has subsequently been a student in several courses of mine at Loras College and I have also
served as his academic advisor for the History Major as well.

Over the last several years Ethan’s scholarly work has been very strong as he has pursued the All-Social
Studies endorsement along with majors in History and Education. Aside from being an intellectually curious
student, Ethan has good writing, research, and oral communication skills. Furthermore, Mr. Krogman also has
excelled in his use of new technologies by producing professional audiovisual and digital storytelling
presentations. His familiarity with this technology, in conjunction with his strong academic abilities, will
certainly be a great asset for him as he begins a promising career in secondary education.

Mr. Krogman has also displayed a great deal of enthusiasm to learn about various global regions and
transnational themes in courses such as imperial geographies, historical geopolitics, and international
migration history. The content base that he has developed in numerous fields of history and the social sciences
will serve him remarkably well in the classroom as he will be able to teach and develop a plethora of different
courses and modules. Moreover, his experience using different pedagogies and methods that he has learned in
his history and education majors, as well as through his student teaching and experiential learning experiences,
present him with a panorama of perspectives to develop and hone his own teaching philosophy.

Ethan is also extremely mature, hardworking, and professional in his demeanor. He always presents himself in
an organized and respectful manner in classroom and informal settings. Likewise, he has often displayed a
good deal of leadership when working on collaborative group projects. Mr. Krogman’s outgoing personality
and humbleness will truly make him an affable resource to his future students. I recommend his application to
join the faculty at your school with genuine enthusiasm and zero reservations.

Thank you for your time and please feel free to contact me directly should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Mark E. Kehren, Ph.D.
