Phrasal Verbs Can you believe that Anne is turning 18 next week? She so fast! Sheila certainly her mother. They look just alike! Mrs. Jones her children to be kind, considerate people! Bor Chae Andrew Betsis & Lawrence Mamas Phrasal Verbs Preface Phrasal verbs are verbs that consist of two or three parts (a verb and an adverb, a verb and a preposition, or averb, an adverb, and a preposition) which together have a completely different meaning than the ‘meaning of the verb. Phrasal verbs are very important in English and quite difficult for students to learn. Some of the most common ones are dealt with in this book. The book aims to build up students’ knowledge of phrasal verbs through full colour illustrations, which are accompanied by graded exercises. In the first page of each unit, students are presented with the new phrasal verbs, their definitions and an example in context. Then, in the following two-page spread, students have to match the verbs with the illustrations and complete the sentences that describe them. In the subsequent pages, there are exercises that aim to help students revise the verbs that they have seen in the presentation pages of the unit. There are two Revision Exercises Tests each covering 5 Units. The book can be used in the classroom, or for self-study purposes. The exercises can be given as. homework and then discussed in class.
