Activities
DAILY
Check frame oil pressure. It should be 50 to 60 psig when at operating temp. Compressor inlet oil temp.
is 190 F max
Check frame oil level. It should be visible in the sight glass and approximately mid-level when running, if
not, determine and correct cause.
Check lubricator block cycle movement indicator.
Check primary and secondary packing vents for blowing. If blowing, determine cause and replace if
necessary.
Check and correct any gas leaks.
Check and correct any oil leaks.

Check operating pressure and temperatures. If not normal, determine cause of abnormally and correct.
Check shutdown set points.
Low oil pressure shutdown 35 psig minimum
High Temp. shutdown to be set within 25 F of actual operating temp.
Check lubricator box oil level.
Check for unusual noises or vibration.
Clean the unit & Comp Floor
MONTHLY
Check and confirm safety shutdown functions.
Conditions of suction and discharge valve seats, plates and spring.
Oil filter
Crank case oil replacement
EVERY 6 MONTHS OR 4000 HOURS (PLUS DAILY/MONTHLY)
Drain and replace lubricator box oil.
Change oil filter or when oil filter differential pressure exceeds the filter change value.
Change Oil. A more frequent oil change interval may be required if operating in an extremely dirty
environment or if the oil supplier recommends it or if an oil analysis dicates.
Clean sintered element in the small oil filter supplied on the force feed lubrication system or every time
main oil filter is changed.
Clean strainer when oil is changed.
Open frame when oil is changed and visually inspect for foreign material.
Check fluid level in torsion vibration damper. Take fluid sample for viscosity testing.
Re-tighten hold down stud-nuts to proper torque values and perform a soft foot check.
Check cylinder for the proper lubrication rates.
YEARLY OR 8000 HOURS (PLUS DAILY/MONTHY/6 MONTHS)
Check main bearing clearance, connecting rod bearing clearance, and crank shaft thrust clearance with a
pry bar and dial indicator.
Check crosshead guide clearance with feelers
Inspect valves for broken plates and loose center bolts, replace broken parts and tighten center bolts.
Inspect cylinder bores for damage or wear.
Inspect piston ring end gap. Replace ring that outside the maximum limit listed in manual.
Inspect piston rods for damage and excessive wear.
Rebuild cylinder packing cases.
Inspect for frame twist or bending by checking shimming of compressor feet.
Realign if necessary to hold coupling hot alignment within 0.005 inch.
Check and re-calibrate all temperature and pressure gauges.
Check and record compressor rod run out.
Grease VVCP stem threads at grease fitting, with 2 to 3 pumps of multi-purpose grease using a standard
hand pump grease gun.
Clean crankcase breather filter.
Adjust drive chains.
Pressure test distribution blocks.

Check gas nozzle flange, valve cap, compressor rod packing, crosshead pin through bolt, crosshead guide
to frame, crosshead guide to cylinder, cylinder mounting flange to forged steel cylinder, distance piece to
cylinder, distance piece to crosshead guide and tandem cylinder to cylinder fastener torque.
Safety valve recalibration
Tubes of intercooler and aftercooler, whether cleaned and pressure tested
Lube oil pump and lubricator whether services or not.

EVERY 2 YEARS OR 16000 HOURS (PLUS DAILY/MONTHLY/6 MONTHS/YEARLY)

Check auxiliary end chain drive for sprocket teeth undercutting and chain for excessive stretching.
Rebuild oil wiper cases.
EVERY 4 YEARS OR 32000 HOURS (DAILY/MONTHLY/6 MONTHS/1 & 2 YEARS)

Check crosshead pin to crosshead pin bore and connecting rod bushing bore by removing crosshead pin
Check for excessive wear in the auxiliary end drive chain lightener.
Check for excessive ring groove wear in pistons.
Check cross guide clearance.
Check cross head & conn. Rod bushing
EVERY 6 YEARS OR 48000 HOURS (DAILY/MONTHLY/6 MONTHS/1,2 & 4 YEARS)
