Mitosis
IV. Activity
Using your snacks we will make a model of each
stages of Mitosis. I will divide you into three
groups. You have 5 minutes to do this activity.
Choose two representatives in your group to
discuss your work.
V. Analysis
Representative of each group kindly report your work
here in front. Everybody listen to your classmate
because you will answer a follow up question. Let us
start from group 1.
VI. Abstraction
Let us answer this set of questions with your group
mates.
Describe what happens during Mitosis. The state during which the cell's nucleus divides
nucleus into 2 nuclei. One copy of the DNA is
distributed into each of the two nuclei
Briefly describe what happens during prophase? Nuclear membrane disappears, chromosomes
condense and spindles form
Briefly describe what happens during metaphase? Chromosomes line up in the center
Briefly describe what happens during anaphase? Centromeres an sister chromatids move to opposite
poles
Briefly describe what happens during telophase? Chromosomes uncoil, nuclear envelope reforms and
spindle disappears
VII. Application
It seems that you really understand our topic. So let us
relate the concept of mitosis in real life situation. I
have here a set of pictures and you will determine how
the mitosis helps us or the other living organism.
