Teacher Activity Students Activity

III. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITES

A. Prayer
Please all stand, (Students prayer)
Mr./Ms.____, kindly lead the prayer

B. Greetings
“Good Morning class.”
Before you take your seats, kindly pick up the
pieces of paper under your chairs and arrange
your chair. Good morning Sir!

C. Attendance
____ Secretary, is there any absent today?

Give yourself a round of applause for being here

today.

D. Recall
Yesterday we tackled the Cell Theory and Cell
Organelle.

This time we will sing. Raise your hand if you

know the song of Bruno Mars entitled Just the
Way You Are? (Students that know the song raise their hand)

Very good, I know some of you do not know what

the song I talk about but I’m pretty sure when I
play this lyrics video you will know the song.
Please all stand.
(After of students sung)
You may take your sit. When I ask if you
understand me, you will say “Ayaay! Captain!”

Did you really understand our last topic?

Ayaay! Captain!
E. Motivation
Today, we will have game. This game is entitled Bet on
your Celeb Baby. Within this envelope is the childhood
picture of some celebrities. When I turn the music on,
the student holding the envelope will pass the
envelope to his/her classmate This
should continue until I stop the music suddenly. The
student who is to be found holding the envelope at
that point should pick a picture in the envelope and
identify who is the child or the baby in the picture. If
your answer is correct, you will receive snacks as your
prize, and you will be the leader for our next activity.

Did you understand the mechanics of the game?

Now let us start the game! Ayaay! Captain!

Daniel Padilla
Liza Soberano

Julia Barreto

We have three winners! And you will receive snacks as

your prize and let us give them a round of applause.

How can you differentiate their childhood picture and

their physical appearances today? They become more beautiful and handsome.

From those childhood pictures of celebrities, how can

you describe the changes in their physical body? They show grow and development.

What is the fundamental unit of life responsible for the

growth of human and other living things? Cell

What kind of cell division that shows growth and

replace the worn out cells? The answer for this
question is in this set of picture and password for this
facebook account.

Mitosis

IV. Activity
Using your snacks we will make a model of each
stages of Mitosis. I will divide you into three
groups. You have 5 minutes to do this activity.
Choose two representatives in your group to
discuss your work.

This is the criteria of your activity.

CRITERIA
Creativity 15%
Delivery of explanation 15%
Cleanliness and Orderliness 10%
Group Collaboration 10%
TOTAL 50%

Representative of each group kindly get your

activity sheets and procedure on how to make
mouthwatering stages of mitosis.

V. Analysis
Representative of each group kindly report your work
here in front. Everybody listen to your classmate
because you will answer a follow up question. Let us
start from group 1.

Describe the stages of mitosis base on your work?

Interphase: Each chromosome now exists as a pair of
chromatids joined together by a centromere. The
chromosomal material will stain and is called
chromatin but structures are difficult to see.

First stage of mitosis.

a. Prophase: Short microtubules may be seen
radiating from the centrioles. These are called
asters. The nucleoli decrease in size as their
nucleic acid passes to certain pairs of
chromatids.

Second stage of mitosis.

b. Metaphase: The pairs of chromatids become
attached to the spindle by spindle fibers. The
chromatids move upwards and downwards
along the spindle until their centromeres line
up across the middle part of the nucleus.
Third stage of mitosis.
c. Anaphase: The centromeres split into two and
the spindle fibres pull the daughter
centromeres to opposite poles. The separated
chromatids, now called chromosomes.

Fourth stage of mitosis.

d. Telophase: The spindle fibres disintegrate and
the centrioles replicate. A nuclear membrane
forms around the chromosomes at each pole
and the nucleoli reappear.

Cytokinesis: This is the phase after mitosis. This is

when the cell completely splits into two daughter cells.
The white indicates the cell membrane, and the colors
on the inside represent the chromosomes and some
organelles on the inside.

Give yourself a round of applause.

VI. Abstraction
Let us answer this set of questions with your group
mates.
Describe what happens during Mitosis. The state during which the cell's nucleus divides
nucleus into 2 nuclei. One copy of the DNA is
distributed into each of the two nuclei

During what stage of the Cell Cycle will we see

chromatin under a microscope? Interphase

How many times does the cell divide during mitosis? 1

Briefly describe what happens during prophase? Nuclear membrane disappears, chromosomes
condense and spindles form

Briefly describe what happens during metaphase? Chromosomes line up in the center

Briefly describe what happens during anaphase? Centromeres an sister chromatids move to opposite
poles

Briefly describe what happens during telophase? Chromosomes uncoil, nuclear envelope reforms and
spindle disappears

During which stage of the cell cycle does the cell

membrane pinch the cell in two? Cytokinesis.

VII. Application
It seems that you really understand our topic. So let us
relate the concept of mitosis in real life situation. I
have here a set of pictures and you will determine how
the mitosis helps us or the other living organism.

The number of cells increases by mitosis enabling

organisms to grow from a single cell to a complex
multicellular organism.

Organisms use mitosis to replace body parts or to

recover the damage part.

Mitosis is responsible for the growth of plant leaves,

roots, and stem among other parts.
VIII. Closure
Let’s wrap up the discussion by a play. This is the game
of alertness and listening. I will be a celebrity
interviewer and all of you will be a celebrity. As I face
the mic toward to you, you will just say what have you
learn from the stages of mitosis. As long as do not ask
your classmate you will continue to talk. And if I face
the mic towards to your classmate, he/she will
continue what have you said and that is time for you Ayaay! Captain!
stop to talk. Did you understand?

IX. Evaluation
Now let us check your understanding. In one whole
sheet of paper, draw and describe the stages of
Mitosis. You have 5 minutes to do this task.

X. Assignment
Please get your notebook. Write and answer your
assignment for tomorrow.

1. Draw and describe the stages of mitosis.

2. Enumerate the importance of meiosis in living
things

Do you have any question regarding to your None sir.

homework?
Good bye sir!
Good bye class!
