The Buddipole portable antenna and mast are commercial/military grade and of a
very high quality contruction.
The mast tested was the longer version which has a tripod type base which needs to
be pegged at max extension or better still guyed.

The antenna assembles easily and has a centre connector that can be used also in a
V configuration.
The tuning using the supplied position guides for 20m was easy. On 40m the end
whips needed to be adjusted to get a match. There is some RF common mode
current on the coax even though ferrite beads are used on the feedline as an RF
choke, this could be improved. The Buddipole seemed on 40m more affected by
surrounding low trees than my homebrew fixed coil version.
The setting up of the coils is somewhat fiddely and not too user friendly with a lot
of band changing. Here the a built in ATU on the IC -703 came in handy.

To summarise :

A quality portable antenna that will last a lifetime

Very nice high Q coils and multiband cove rage.
The tuning takes some practise and the RF choke should have some more ferrite
beads added or add a coiled coax RF choke at your radio .
Remember to guy the mast or at least peg the feet.
