Estudiar el estándar IEEE 802.15.4, las carácterísticas principales que
permiten la comunicación de información y el funcionamiento de la tecnología ZigBee
Ing. Diego Veloz Ch. MSc.
IEEE 802.15.4 Standard his standard defines the physical layer (PHY) and media T access control (MAC) layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model of network operation. The PHY defines: • frequency • power • modulation • other wireless conditions of the link. The MAC defines the format of the data handling. he remaining layers define other measures for handing T the data and related protocol enhancements including the final application. Ing. Diego Veloz Ch. MSc. ZigBee Wireless technology created to control and sensor networks Based on IEEE 802.15.4 Standard Created by ZigBee Alliance esigned for low consumption allowing batteries to D essentially last for ever igBee allows to get completely networked homes where all Z devices are able to communicate and be controlled by a single unit igBee provides security, network and application support Z services operating on the top of IEEE.
◉ These layers make possible that ZigBee has features: • Low cost • Very low power consumption • Short-range operations • Easy implementation • Reliable data transfer • Security Features

Capas de Arquitectura ZigBee
• Network and Application support layers
• Media Access Control layer • Physical layer

Tipos de dispositivos ZigBee
here are three different ZigBee devices
T depending on their functionalities: ZigBee coordinator node Full function device Reduce function device
Ing. Diego Veloz Ch. MSc.
ZigBee coordinator node
I t is the root of network tree and a bridge to
other network It is able to store about the network There is only one ZCN for a network Act as a repository for other security keys
Ing. Diego Veloz Ch. MSc.
Dispositivos de función completa
• Intermediary router transmitting data from
other devices
• Need lesser memory than ZCN
• Lesser Manufacturing cost
• It can also act as a coordinator
• It can operate on all topologies
Ing. Diego Veloz Ch. MSc.
Reduced function device
• Device capable of talking in the network
• It cannot relay data from other devices
• Less memory
• Cheaper than FFD
• It only talks to the network coordinator
