Software Packages Follow-Up for EX-2N_Peppermint_AVC Chassis [REVISION 13]

SYMPTOM
The latest software package #42 is valid for all “EX-2N_Peppermint with AVC chassis” models, and solves the
following issues.

* When the TV wakes up for ASU (3:00 AM) or for OAD (5:00 AM) at night, picture and sound 217X R13
sometimes appear.
Problem with BBC MHEG when selecting services (UK)
* The TV crashes, freezes and reboots when the BBC MHEG application is used to select services 6286 R13
on the BBC interactive channel.
TV reboots with R6 MUX (France)
* Due to a change in the French broadcaster signal, when any service of M6 Mux is selected,
E11A R12
the TV freezes with only a banner displayed while the screen is dark. Next, the red LED
lights up and the TV switches off.
Incorrect EPG language selection (Greek)
U721 R12
* EPG language for MPEG4 channels appears in English instead of Greek.
Teletext subtitles problem (France)

* The subtitles are permanently displayed. French accents are not correctly displayed.
Inconsistent display of EPG data
* EPG data is not displayed for ‘cross carried’ services. Several channels show 1286 R11
“No Event Information”.
Subtitles in ARTE HD (DVB-T service) are not displayed (France) D732 R11
TV switches off and restarts by itself after 30 seconds (Iceland) 3722 R11

Wrong EPG coding

* Some specific Polish characters have a wrong EPG coding.
Crash at Wehlo network (Finland)
* Due to a change in the signal at the Wehlo cable broadcaster in Finland, a set may crash

showing several symptoms, such as ‘blocked’, ‘no response to remote commander or buttons’,
or ‘automatic restart'.
TV hangs in Marseille (Numericable)
* Due to a change in broadcaster signal, the TV hangs up in Numericable network in D11F R11
DVB-T services.
Real time subtitle Teletext does not work properly (Italy)

* The real time subtitles of Teletext are refreshed too quickly.
TV Blocked in Canal “Sur” (Spain)
* Due to a change in the signal at AXION (a Spanish DVB-T Broadcaster), the TV gets blocked E11A R11
when “Canal Sur” is selected. There is no picture, no sound, and the green LED in on.



Wrong event information on banner width “TF1”
* When a long event is overlapped with a short event, the banner should display the short event, 1286 R10
but instead it is showing the long event.
Start on program “0” from Standby
* After some hours in standby mode, when the customer tries to start the set (Power ON 1272 R10
from the remote commander), it goes to program “0” instead of the last one tuned.
No or noisy sound after power on
* When starting the TV after having put it in Standby or having it powered off for a minute, 1540 R10
the sound is noisy or completely missing.
Reboot when switching to R1 MUX (North of France)
* After zapping to MUX R1, the TV is blocked with green and red LEDs ON, and the TV reboots after 1722 R10
a few seconds.
All HD (MPEG4) encrypted services are lacking audio 1510 R10
No picture on encoded services (Latvia)
* On encoded MPEG4 services, there is no picture (black screen with top menu). The audio C310 R9
in encoded MPEG2 is working correctly.
Translation error
* In the feature menu, the option “Display area” is not translated into the following languages: 1731 R9
Bulgarian, German, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Turkish.
Missing Latvian subtitles

* Latvian language is missing in the Subtitles Setup menu of one service.
TXT subpages - only 6 pages displayed

* When more than 6 sub pages are available, only the first pages can be seen/selected.
Blocked TV – Symptom 4 (Italy)
* While zapping between certain channels, the operations slow down or freeze C11F R8
between LCD10 and LCD11 (Republica TV and FR24).
No Switch On after Standby
* Having left the set in standby overnight, it does not power on the next morning. 1119 R7
Unplugging of the mains recovers normal operations.
Audio gets on by itself during the night from Standby

* No video, red LED lights up.
Blocked TV – Symptom 2
* Due to the analog switch-off in some regions, the TV can become blocked while watching DVB-T.

The problem can happen in different services and different muxes. No remote commander reaction,
neither front panel buttons.
Blocked TV – Symptom 3

* TV switches off by itself and on again after 30 seconds. Then it blocks.
Some of the 290 Services in Italy are listed with LCN number “1000” 1263 R7
Delay between Audio and Video (TVG - Television Galicia)
* Audio mutes (approximately 1 sec), causing an accumulative delay from audio to video 1536 R6
of 5 to 6 seconds.
Default Audio Track is stereo
* In DVB-T, when a service broadcasts both Stereo and Dolby Digital 3:2 audio tracks, 158X R5
the default selection is "Stereo".
Unstable Picture

* VCR over RF does not work properly.
Wrong teletext language

* When the country is set to “Bulgaria”, Russian teletext is not shown in Cyrillic.
Auto tuning problem

* TV crashes during auto tuning (Czech MUX).
Digital programmes order lost
* The digital programmes order is lost due to an ASU feature malfunction when the TV is left 1727 R4
in standby overnight.
HD Service Macro Blocking

* While watching DVB-T services in High definition, the picture shows block noise.

Tuning process stops without channel storage (Hungary)
* During digital tuning and after finding 2-3 stations, the tuning stops without having finished,

and switches off itself after approximately 30 seconds. One minute later, a message is displayed
saying no stations are stored.

Install the latest software package #42, using the files attached to this document and following the abridged
procedure for issue fixes below. For the full procedure, refer to TB 09TV065.

Update procedure
1. Take an empty USB stick, and create a folder called “upgrades”.
2. Download the attached “M_AVC_M5Rxx_FHD37_Development.upg” file.
3. Copy it inside the “upgrades” folder of the USB stick.
4. Insert the USB stick in the USB TV slot, and switch on the TV.
5. Open the Service Menu by clicking “<info> + <5> + <Vol+> + <standby>” or via TT mode select “Menu”.
6. Within the Service Menu, select “Software Upgrade”. The TV will automatically restart and the Upgrader Menu
will appear.
7. Select the “M_AVC_M5Rxx_FHD37_Development.upg” file.
8. The upgrade process starts, indicated by the process bar moving from 0 to 100 %. Wait until the download menu
again appears.
9. Reset the TV by unplugging the AC power cord for 5 minutes (simply powering off is not enough), and plug it
again.
IMPORTANT: It is essential to respect these 5 minutes in order to have the Standby micro correctly updated.
10. Apply “TT08”.
