FUEL GAUGE SET FOR SMALL
TRANSPORTATION AIRCRAFT

PURPOSE
The fuel level gauge set is designed for small transportation aircraft, where it is used to indicate the volumetric content of the fuel
carried in the fuel tanks of the aircraft, and to signal a decrease of the fuel content to an emergency level.
ASSEMBLY
The fuel gauge set consists of:

ƒ indicator LUN 1518

ƒ transmitter LUN 1608
ƒ bushing LUN 1607

DESCRIPTION
The fuel gauge indicates the volumetric content of the carried fuel on the control board of the aircraft and allows for diagnostics of the state of
the fuel gauge set. The indicator contains a stepping motor, the rotor of which is connected with the indicator pointer, as well as printed circuit
cards of the assembly electronics. The indicator is fitted with internal illumination of the volume scale. The whole indicator system is
mounted in a standard casing, compliant with the ARINC-408A standard, size 2ATI. A 26-pin plug, located on the rare flange of the
indicator, is used to connect the indicator to the fuel gauge set. Thanks to its design, the fuel content indicator can be mounted on the aircraft
control board from either the front or the rare side, the way of mounting being determined by the final assembler of the aircraft. The
measurement of the volume of the carried fuel is based on measuring the height of the level of the boundary of two different dielectrics (fuel
and air) within the capacitance transmitter. The capacitance transmitter consists of two coaxial tubes made of aluminium alloy. The
transmitter is supported on two special insulated sleeve mountings, which fix the tube system to the tank wall. The transmitter tubes are
connected to the bushing by insulated terminal board of stainless steel and a coaxial cable.
The transmitter tubes are eloxal coated and further protected by an epoxide coating. The bushing consists of a casing of light metal alloy,
shaped in such way that mounting the printed circuit card in the inner room of the casing be possible. This room is hermetically enclosed by
the bodies of special connectors for input and output signals of the transducer. The casing of the bushing is designed such that after assembly,
it is a part of the fuel tank wall and may be sealed by O-rings.
