The Values encapsulated in the Graduate Attributes Framework are further disseminated to
the students through the Student Development Programs conducted every year.
The Course Outcomes(Specified as Objectives) for each course of our college programs are
specified in the handbook named “Regulations and Syllabus”.
We communicate these to our students by giving a copy of this book to each student on
admission. The teachers of a particular course refer to these expected course outcomes in
their classes.

Program outcomes of M.D.S PROGRAMME

The objective of the post-graduate programme is to train a student so as to ensure higher

competence in both general and special area of interest and prepare him or her for a career
in teaching, research and speciality practice. He/She must achieve a high degree of clinical
proficiency in the subject and develop competence in research and its methodology in the
concerned field.

Post graduate student should demonstrate understanding of basic sciences relevant to

speciality; describe etiology, pathophysiology, principles of diagnosis and management of
common problems within the speciality in adults and children; identify social, economic,
environmental and emotional determinants in a given case and take them into account for
planned treatment; recognise conditions that may be outside the area of speciality or
competence and to refer them to the concerned specialist; update knowledge by self study
and by attending courses, conferences and seminars pertaining
to speciality; undertake audit, use information technology and carry out research in both
basic and clinical with the aim of publishing or presenting the work at various scientific
gathering.
2.6.2 Attainment of program outcomes, program specific outcomes and course
outcomes are evaluated by the institution (10)

Upload a description of the method of measuring attainment of POs , PSOs and COs in
not more than 500 words and the level of attainment of POs , PSOs and COs.

The IQAC of GITAM dental college has been established to develop a mechanism to build
and ensure a culture of quality in the University.

The IQAC members who are from various sectors such as Administration, Faculty,
Management, Technical Staff, Alumni, student, stakeholders, external experts give their
feedback on the various activities of the college.

Based on the feedback of the IQAC member’s further line of action for the upcoming
academic year is drawn to ensure improvement and development in the existing system.

The relevance of the programmes offered by the college is ensured by periodically

updating the course content and design courses through respective boards of studies in
all programmes and their approval by the academic council of the college.

The performance of the final year students, and success rate in various competitive
exams such as GATE, NET, SLET, GRE, TOEFL are also considered as indicators of
attainment of the various objectives.

Attainment of Course Outcomes: The course outcomes were prepared by the action
verbs of blooms taxonomy. The assessment of course outcomes are as follows:

Direct assessment:

1.Internal Examinations and Assignment: Examinations are conducted for students as

prescribed by the university norms. There shall be 2 internal examinations (each for 50
marks), and one final internal (70 marks) and the average marks of the three
examinations secured in each subject shall be considered as final marks for the internals.
Each question in the mid exam is mapped to the course outcomes. It is expected that a
student should score at least 80% of Maximum marks of the course for the attainment.

2.End university Examination : For theory subjects the distribution shall be 30 marks for
Internal Evaluation and 70 marks for the End Examination. It is expected that a student
should score at least 40% of Maximum marks of the course for the attainment of course
outcomes. The marks scored by the students in Internal Examinations, Assignments and
End university exams are used to assess the attainment level of the whole course and
the course outcome attainment level.

3.Labs : For Labs, there shall be a continuous evaluation during the year for 20 internal
marks and 80 end examination marks. Out of 25 marks for the Internal, day to day work
in the Laboratory shall be evaluated for 15 marks and internal examination shall be
evaluated for 10 marks conducted by the concerned laboratory Faculty. The end
examination shall be conducted with external examiner and internal teacher.

Direct CO Attainment: Course Outcome attainment level from internal assessment

(A): mid exam class average(Mid1 for CO1, CO2, Mid2 for CO3, CO4) Course Outcome
attainment level from universityexams
(B): class average of end semester exams(for CO1, CO2, CO3, CO4)
CO Attainment:0.25 (A) + 0.75(B)

Indirect assessment: Course end Survey: At the end of each semester a questionnaire is
distributed to all the enrolled students and take feedback on effectiveness of the course.
The questionnaire is prepared to know the efficiency and utility of the course outcomes.

CO attainment: Final co attainment is calculated as 0.9*Direct assessment+0.1*Indirect

assessment.

Attainment of Program Outcomes and Program Specific Outcomes Assessment

Process:

Direct assessment: Mapping of COs to POs and PSOs.

Since COs are mapped to POs and PSOs,the values of COs are reflected in the respective
POs and PSOs.
Description: Assessment process for COs is described above.
Frequency: Every year.

Indirect assessment:

Graduate exit survey Description:

All students leaving the college on completion of program are given feedback forms to
give their assessment of POs and PSOs

Frequency:Every year from the graduating batch to give their assessment of POs and
PSOs POs and PSOs attainment: Final POs and PSOs attainment is calculated as
0.9*Direct assessment+0.1*Indirect assessment
