Procedure:
● Show examples of procedural texts and point out key features
○ A title that identifies the topic
○ An intro that tells what the text will explain and/or why the author chose that topic
○ Bulleted list of materials/supplies needed
■ Focus on it being bullet points
○ Directions numbered or in short paragraphs with sequence words
■ Focus on the steps being numbered. Why are they numbered instead of
bulleted? Why are the materials bulleted instead of numbered?

● For the last few minutes of the lesson, have students brainstorm recipe ideas
● Explain that they are going to be creating a procedural text about a recipe they choose
