Dear Sir/Madame:

The KNIGHTS OF RIZAL (KOR), Chartered under Republic Act No. 646, is proud to announce the launching
of its ANNUAL SEARCH FOR THE TEN OUTSTANDING JOSE RIZAL MODEL STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES
for the collegiate level, Year 2018.

This search has been successfully conducted by the KOR in the last 30 years. Its principal objective is to
recognize young Filipinos who best epitomize the qualities of academic excellence and student
leadership of our National Hero and Martyr as well as emulate his lofty ideals, high principles, civic-
mindedness and courageous nationalism.

In view of this, may we request your campus to support in this noble activities by sending your worthy
representative from your college or university.

Attached herewith are the rules of the contest for your reference and Entry Form to be accomplish by
your campus representative duly signed by your Campus President/Vice President and send it to our
Office on or before Saturday, December 1, 2018. Please send your entry at: The JRMSP Selection

RULES FOR THE SEARCH FOR JOSE RIZAL MODEL STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

OBJECTIVE:
To give due recognition to the Ten (10) Outstanding College/University Students of the
Philippines whose best epitomize the Rizalian qualities of academic excellence and leadership in
campus and community activities, and who will hopefully emulate our National Hero’s lofty
ideals, high principles, civic virtues and courageous nationalism, thereby serving as living
models to the youth of the land.

CATEGORY/COVERAGE:
All public and private colleges and universities in the Philippines created by law or duly
authorized to operate as such by law or by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

PRIZES and AWARDS:


The Twenty (20) finalists will be accommodated free of charge in one of the hotels within the
National Capital Region (NCR), and roundtrip transportation expenses from your place of origin
to Manila will be shouldered by the KOR. These twenty-finalists shall be awarded a medal and a
certificate. The Top Ten (10) winners shall be awarded cash prize, medal, trophy and certificate
during the Rizal Day program and awarding ceremony to be held on 30 December 2018, Sunday
at the International Headquarters of the Order.

GUIDELINES:
1. A college or any of the university system should send ONLY one (1) candidate to the
Search Committee for the 2018 JOSE RIZAL MODEL STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES
(JRMSP).

2. Candidates should be Filipino citizens and senior graduating students of any bachelor
degree course, duly certified by the College/University Registrar or Dean of Student
Affairs.

3. Application forms shall be correctly accomplished by the candidates in triplicate copies,


duly endorsed and properly signed by the University/College President, Administrator,
Head, or Chancellor, and MUST BE SUBMITTED not later than the close of office hours
on Saturday, December 1, 2018 to the following:

4. The Preliminary Selection of Twenty (20) Finalists will be conducted by the Screening
Committee, based on the submitted entries. Selected FINALISTS will be notified on
Friday, December 7, 2018 via telephone/fax/email, or notice will be sent or
communicated through the candidates’ campus address.

5. The FINAL INTERVIEW for the TWENTY (20) FINALISTS will be conducted by the Board of
Judges on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 8:00 AM, at 3 rd Floor, International
Headquarters, KOR Building, Bonifacio Drive Port Area, Manila in their formal attire. The
names of the Top Ten (10) Winners will be announced during the Rizal Day Program on
Sunday, December 30, 2018.

CRITERIA FOR THE FINAL SELECTION

[a] Knowledge About Dr. Jose Rizal..............................................................30%


(his life, writings, works and teachings)

[b] Academic Excellence…..............................................................................20 %


(To be considered in this criterion will be the candidate’s class
standing and academic honors/awards earned from first
year to third year in college/university plus the academic
honors/awards the candidate expects to get in his/her fourth
and final year).

[c] Student Leadership/ Co-Curricular Activities…........................................15 %


To be considered in this criterion are the candidate’s
participation in campus leadership or governance,
membership in student councils or participation in
campus journalism, or other activities, like, but
is not limited to, contests, conferences, seminars,
workshops, teach-ins, etc., or positions held in
student organizations within the school.

[d] Community Involvement - [Local/Regional/National]...............................10 %


This refers to citizen participation in community
activities, or civic involvement or public service,
but the scope of coverage is not only local and
regional but also national.

[e] Interview/Verbal Communication............................................................20 %


This criterion relates to the candidate’s ability
to verbally express his/her views and opinions
in clear, concise, precise and straight-forward
manner during the interview
[f] Personality Projection/Appearance………………………………………………….…5 %
This refers to how the candidate presents
himself/herself during the interview - his/her
self confidence, cleanliness in appearance ,
wholesome image and disposition and other
similar traits.

6. The decision of the Selection Committee and of the Board of Judges


is FINAL, BINDING, EXECUTORY AND NON-APPEALABLE.
